Sip 'n See Parties
May 2009 |
|
In honor of Mother's Day, this issue of party possibilities focuses on Sip 'n See parties, which is a baby shower held AFTER the baby is born. A tradition in the south but quickly catching on in the rest of the US, a sip 'n see party is an informal open house held when the baby is about 6-8 weeks old. Guests 'sip' on something to drink and 'see' the new baby.
I really like this idea, especially to celebrate subsequent children, when a traditional baby shower may seem inappropriate. When each of my girls were born, my husband and I hosted a welcome party to introduce them to close friends; we were so excited to show off our expanding family. But anyone can host a sip 'n see party - parents, grandparents or close friends.
If you're having a baby soon or know of someone who is, then read the article below on creative ideas for hosting a sip 'n see ... or contact me and I'll put the plans in motion for a fun welcome party that everyone can enjoy! |

It's Time to Party!

Last month, I described my auction item - a cocktail party - to benefit Sunset Hills Montessori School. Above is a photo of my promotional sign for the display. It's a 12" transparent clock by Heidi Swapp enhanced with cardstock, a fancy font and pretty ribbon. A smaller version of this clock would make an excellent Time to Party invitation. |
