Complimentary Event Design: Tea Party
Tea parties are a favorite pastime for most little girls.
When little girls become women, they still enjoy
their tea, especially when sipped amongst longtime
friends.
On Saturday afternoon, July 12, my little girls -
Lauren, Amanda and Kyra - hosted a birthday tea party
for their grandmother and her closest friends. Below
is a complimentary summary of the event design.
The Place. For this special occasion, we
selected Star*Nut Gourmet
in McLean, a specialty retailer offering premium
chocolates and nuts, as well as outstanding coffee,
tea, sandwiches and salads. My neighbor, Martha,
suggested Star*Nut Gourmet as a lovely place for
ladies' tea; she was right! Star*Nut Gourmet provided
the tables, chairs, linens and china, in addition to the
teas and goodies.
The Look. My mother loves roses; therefore, I
incorporated roses into the invitation, table decor and
birthday cake. Sage green linens complemented the
look, providing a perfect backdrop to the individual
floral arrangements. I enhanced the tea experience
with embellished (Anna Griffin) menu cards and place
cards. Lastly, guests departed with floral 'purses'
filled with gourmet chocolates.
The Food & Beverages. Guests enjoyed a
great selection of loose-leaf teas (Bombay Chai was
excellent), as well as a wonderful assortment of tea
sandwiches, pastries and chocolates. A slice of white
chocolate raspberry mousse birthday cake (and
another cup of tea) rounded out our tea party
experience.
The Fun. For two hours, old friends hugged,
laughed and reminsced about their friendship with my
mom. Tea party photos may be viewed on my Photo Gallery web page.
