Happy Thanksgiving
November 2007

Tis' the season ... to be thankful!

Thank you to my clients, who shared your special occasions with me and allowed me to help you create such special parties. You make 'work' a lot of fun!

And thank you to my family and friends, who support my passion for parties!

I wish all of you a very happy thanksgiving! And if you're hosting dinner, I have two ideas below to share.

Seating Arrangements

As my daughter, Amanda, learned last week in pre- school, the first Thanksgiving dinner was a gathering of family and new friends. Fast forward to the 21st century and nothing has changed. We still celebrate with family and friends, but the dynamics have changed as guests arrive from all corners of the world. Sometimes, this melange of guests can worry the hostess, especially when it comes time to sit down at the table. So, I have a clever idea for assigning seats without too much thinking.

In a bowl, assemble pairs of things - a pair of earrings, a pair of dice, two buttons or two Queen of Hearts (in case there really is a match to be made!). Assemble as many objects as there are guests. As the guests arrive, ask them to select one object. Before dinner, ask your guests to find their other "pair" and have a seat.

As the Staples ad states "It's that easy."

Black Friday: Leftover Wine Recipe

The day after Thanksgiving - a day for shopping, watching football and eating lots of leftovers. I don't care for leftovers but I saw this recipe for Burgundy Bubbler on the Food Network and liked it. It requires leftover red wine; have you ever heard such a thing?

Pour 1/2 cup of chilled leftover red wine
Add a 1/4 cup of chilled orange juice
Top off with 1/2 cup of sparkling cider

Voila! A jazzy cocktail for the day after Thanksgiving. Enjoy.
