Just a Few Little Things To Sew

Most of the sewing that I've been doing these last couple of months have been utilitarian, practical and experimental. Carmon will be constructing the majority of our new home, thus needed some strap adjustments on his new tool belt. The children needed some holes-in-the-knees mended and darned. A little friend needed a gift for her new dolly. And, finally, I was able to finish a few samples for Oliver + S.... all of which were accomplished using the little Singer Featherweight, of course. It's always fun to see the new things Oliver + S is designing.... Speaking of - have you seen their new Straight Stitch Society? If you haven't, you simply must - and be sure to read their manifesto.

Greetings!
Spring has sprung and yet summer seems right around the corner, doesn't it! Maybe it was the mild winter we had that makes the transition seem so quick and already upon us.
Speaking of transitions, we are in the middle of moving to a new location. We will be taking our family and small business to a little town in the middle of scenic, mountainous Idaho. It seemed this time would never come but here we are - cleaning house, getting organized and what feels like an appropriate time for Spring Cleaning!
During this process, we thought we would let you know of some of the new things updated to the shoppe as well as share some lovely photographs of a 'Before and After' San Francisco Golden Gate Exposition Featherweight 221!

Before and After ~ Restoration
|
Several years ago we purchased an old Singer Featherweight that was in very, very poor condition and missing several major parts. Our plans were to restore it. However, a customer in California had been asking about the machine every so often for his wife - whose birthday was significant to the time period of the San Francisco Golden Gate Exposition. This last winter, we decided to let him have it 'as is' so he could pursue the restoration. Well, he wasted no time -- he immediately sent it off to a Featherweight restorer and surprised his wife earlier this year. It turned out absolutely stunning! We hope you will enjoy the before, but mostly "after" photos as well.
