Christmas Greetings
Stockings with holes, no gifts will hold, So we must sew them, before we rest. For "They that sew" we've been told, Are they that reap a harvest.
You know me - I cannot resist an antique postcard, especially one that relates to sewing. Aren't these two little girls darling?
In light of the message of the greeting, however, what are you sewing and crafting for this winter season? For they that sew, will reap a harvest! Warm, flannel pajamas? A festive garment? Or perhaps you've got fabric pieces under your Featherweight needle making that Christmas Quilt... whatever you are sewing, we hope you are enjoying yourself as you reminisce all of your holiday memories ~ old and new. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ FREE Apron Pattern ~ from the Vintage Archives
This Apron Pattern was taken from an old Bias Trim package. Quite often, similar simple patterns were printed on the front and back of the trim cards which held the neatly folded and pressed bias, braid, or other novelty trim. Someone must have liked this one, because it was saved all these years tucked into an old sewing notions box. (The pattern dimensions had faded considerably, so I had to do a bit of image restoration.) It only takes about 1 yard of fabric and some bias trim. Send me pictures if you make one.... HAVE FUN!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rick Rack (or Ric Rac) 100% Cotton & 100% Linen Now in stock in a variety of colors and sizes with Free Shipping in the USA!
Are you one who has always liked rick rack but weren't quite sure what to do with it? Well, you could trim a quilt, like this old 1930's quilt, or make flower rosettes for hair accessories, brooches or even rings, trim a skirt, dress hem, sleeve cuff or collar, use it as hair ribbons for a unique accent, or finally, trim an apron using the vintage pattern we added from our archive collection.
These braids are newly imported from Europe and are assuredly 100% cotton or 100% Linen, as indicated. Most rick rack braids on the market anymore are poly-synthetics -- they might even look and feel like cotton because of technology, but if you pursue the fiber content you may be surprised to learn they are actually not cotton at all. You can read more about our rick rack braids here...Look at all the colors - we love rick rack, but then you already knew that....
That last image is a close-up of the Rick Rack Braid that is made of 100% Linen -- beautiful trim!
For Family Gift-Giving this year, we decided to add a little POP! to our gathering...
An array of Cake Pops, that is!
(also known as a cake ball on a Lollipop Stick) It was so much fun and each one of us participated in some form or fashion (pun intended). From forming the cake into balls, to dipping into the coated candy to decorating the Snowmen in appropriate fashion - it was a sweet time by all and incredibly yummy! We will most likely make this a family tradition. Hope you are enjoying this Holiday Season!
