Hello!
What would you do if you weren't afraid? Sometimes in life, we end up settling for whatever comes our way and get stuck. We just go with the way things are instead of pursuing what could be better for us. We lose our open mind and fear takes over. Since the day you were born, your environment and experiences have shaped you into how you respond to the world. Every single person you met, every single object you saw, every single smell you smelled and every single sound and word you heard made you think and behave the way you do to this very day. If you had experiences in your life that empowered you to overcome your fears, you probably think and act in courageous ways. If you had experiences in your life that were controlling and stifling, you might not think and act in courageous ways. In other words, if you were told over and over again that you can't do something and did not receive the nurturing and love necessary to feel good about yourself, you might not think that you are capable and deserving of being happy and fulfilled. You may say to yourself, "That's just for other people. Why should I even try?"
After hearing, you "can't" do something often, you begin thinking small and accept the status quo. Challenging the status quo and being courageous shakes things up and goes against the norm, which many conforming types do not like. Some of your friends may no longer want to be your friends. Others may criticize you, and what you are doing because they may be feeling rejected, inadequate or envious. They may not support you while you go through the "changing curve."
