Hello!
What's the cost of an unhappy employee? When you factor in things like lost productivity, decreased morale, and the 'physical' cost of employee turnover, you'll find that it's pretty high. On average, employee turnover cost is one and half times the salary of the position. Do the math for your organization.
With that in mind, this statistic may come as a shock to many employers: 84 percent of workers want to quit their jobs and find new opportunities. That means it's time for all organizations to consider what can be done to boost the morale of their workforce and create an environment in which employees can not only survive, but thrive.
This process starts at the top by having strong supervisors with leadership qualities. Strong leadership requires knowing the difference between being a supervisor and being a leader.
Watch Nancy to find out what it takes to go from being a SUPERworker to a SUPERvisor:
| | Superworker to Supervisor |
Leadership is about directing, empowering and inspiring positive change. Leaders create a vision and develop strategies. Supervisors plan too, but they tend to be more reactive and focus on completing tasks. If you want to be a leader, you must create vision and define how you expect yourself and your team to perform. Having a strong vision and clear expectations boosts morale because employees believe in their organization and its leadership.
Extremely Critical: You must listen to your team and treat them with the respect and courtesy they deserve. You need them; and they need you.
To increase morale and productivity, develop your supervisors into super leaders before it costs your organization huge amounts of time and money. In today's economy, you cannot afford to lose another talented employee, or dollar.
To your taking the lead,
Nancy
