Stamp Your Heart Out - Claremont Village
Word of the week: TRAFFIC-STOPPER
Around Claremont Village and certainly among Stamp Your Heart Out regulars, the traditional back-to-school display in the shop window is known to be a traffic-stopper. To remind us of one of the best parts of returning to classrooms, Joan features a fabulous collection of metal lunchboxes. You know the ones, either a superhero, television show, movie or cartoon character. At least the traffic they stop is the pedestrian variety. Good thing they are not quite so visible to passing cars or there could be trouble. Many passers-by see the duplicate of one of their treasures in the exhibit. Was it CHARLIE'S ANGELS? Maybe STAR WARS or SUPERMAN? How about THE MUPPETS? Stroll past, stop and talk with others enjoying their memories, come in and tell us your lunchbox story. We are all good listeners. Just remember, they are for display only. That way, we can look forward to seeing them again as another September rolls around.

 Knit In Pink
Time to get those knittin' needles moving ...

Stamp Your Heart Out is proud to sponsor a Breast Cancer Awareness Project that benefits patients and survivors at the Breast Health Center at the Lewis Family Cancer Care Center at Pomona Valley Community Hospital, Pomona, CA, San Antonio Community Hospital, Upland, CA, and Kaiser Permanente Hospital, Fontana, CA.

Please knit or crochet pink scarves and bring them to Stamp Your Heart Out by Oct. 10, 2010

(Be sure to leave your name and address with us.)*

Don't knit or crochet?  Simply bring 3 skeins of pink yarn to the store.
(Knitters will do the rest.)

We have been blessed with knitters of all ages and skill levels.  Our youngest knitter was 7 years old and his scarf was knitted on a spool knitting tool.  Our oldest known knitter is my Mom, 95 years young, who last year knitted over 100 scarves. She is still knitting away when she is not making a quilt.

One of our most creative scarves was a progressive project with 8 students from Scripps College in Claremont.  The result of that group project was definitely a treasure and featured a variety of stitches, twists and turns.  We have had international knitters as well.

Thanks to all of the knitters and crocheters who have donated their time and talents for the past four years. More than 3500 scarves have been donated to The Breast Health Center at  Pomona Valley Community Hospital Medical Center, along with donations  in 2009 to San Antonio Hospital in Upland and Kaiser Foundation Hospital in Fontana.

Please mark your calendars to save the date for our Thank You Party,
Sunday, Oct.17  from 2-4 p.m. at Pitzer Auditorium, Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center, 1798 N. Garey Ave., Pomona, CA.
