An Albion Night at the Races

Churchill DownsTwenty alumni, parents, and friends gathered at the Nancy G. Held Equestrian Center to kick off the Albion Night at the Races weekend trip to Louisville, Kentucky, from June 15-17. After breakfast and a tour of the world-class equestrian center, guests boarded a luxury coach fresh with the knowledge of playing the ponies, thanks to John Bedient, Associate Professor of Economics and Management. Another twenty alumni, parents and friends met the group at the historic Seelbach Hotel, and spent the weekend enjoying all that Louisville has to offer.

"We met so many interesting people," Lisa McCafferty, mother of Rebecca McCafferty, '09, said. "Albion’s Equestrian Center is a hidden gem. And the tours of the Woodford Reserve Bourbon Distillery and Three Chimneys stallion farm were wonderful."

VideoVice President of Churchill Downs Inc., Tom Jenkins, '85, hosted the group at Downs After Dark races Saturday evening, where guests enjoyed dinner and seats in Millionaire's Row. "It was a terrific weekend -- great hotel, great city, great food, and lots of fun at Churchill Downs," Walter Urick, '61, said.
