PENNIES FOR PATIENTS UPDATE

After our first money count (71# of coins!) We are excited to announce our Pre-school as the current leaders. Here's how the classes ranked:

 

1st place: Pre-school : $110.84

2nd place: Kindergarten: $70.48

3rd place: First grade: $53.90

4th place: Third grade: $48.11

5th place: Second grade: $39.47

6th place: Sixth grade: $37.05

7th place: Fourth grade: $22.83

8th place: Staff: $15.00

7th grade: $13.82,

5th grade: $13.21

8th grade: $7.76

 

Our total was $432.47! GREAT JOB! We are about a third of the way to our $1300 goal!  (2) letters were taken down from the "Make Leukemia Disappear" sign across from the office. ( for every $150 the school collects we take a letter away from the word LEUKEMIA).

 

Keep saving and bringing in those pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters!

 

DON'T FORGET... MONDAY IS THE DAY MR. FOOS GETS "STUCK FOR A BUCK". Rolls of duct tape can be bought for $10 (20 yards) or $1 will buy a yard long piece.

 

Classes get your guesses in for the red and white blood cells in the jars contest! The winning class gets (2) rolls of pennies for the closest guesses! Students and staff can also make their own guess in the office. (2) guesses for a quarter, the winner gets half of the money collected for their class box!

 

Teachers get your students to answer the trivia questions ( located on the back of the large size copies of dollar bills you received) winners will get(2) rolls of pennies for their class! Please turn in by Monday so we can announce the winners at the Stuck for a Buck event!

 

 

 

SPX School Play Update
                             from Mrs. Burnor

Munchkins and flying monkeys. Your first play rehearsal is on Tuesday April 3rd.

 Munchkins can be signed up by a parent at this rehearsal at 3:00. The munchkins are practicing in the family life center from 3:00 to 3:45.

Flying monkeys are practicing from 3:45 to 5.

Bring a water bottle. Thank you.

 

Lunch Works
 
Please remember to place your lunch orders for April on line.  Orders will be accepted beginning today through next Thursday, March 29.
 
Easter Break 

 

Our St. Pius X School Easter break will begin on Thursday, April 5 at 3:00 PM.  Remember that we will return to class on Wednesday, April 11.

HOLY WEEK 

 March 31/April 1 Palm Sunday. Regular mass schedule (Sat. 4:00, Sunday 8:00, 9:30 and 11:30)

 

Gathering in the Family Life Center before all masses. Blessing and Procession with Palms from there to the main church.  

 

April 2 Monday. Parish Mass at 8:00 a.m.

 

April 3 Tuesday. Parish Mass at 8:00 a.m.  

Chrism Mass at the Cathedral 11:00.

Blessing of the Oils.

 

April 4 Wednesday of Holy Week

Parish Mass at 8:30a.m.

Tenebrae at the Cathedral 7:00 p.m.

 

April 5 The Beginning of the Triduum

Holy Thursday Mass 7:00p.m.

Adoration of the Eucharist thereafter at the Altar of Repose in the Narthex until 11:00p.m.  

 

April 6 Good Friday

A Day of complete Fast and Abstinence

The Solemn Liturgy of the Lord's Passion and Death at 3:00p.m.

Stations and Veneration of the Cross at 7:00p.m

 

April 7 Holy Saturday. NO 4:00 P.M. MASS

Solemn Vigil of Easter 9:00p.m.

Gathering in Family Life Center for the Blessing of Paschal Candle and Procession from there to the church.  

 

April 8 Easter Sunday.

Regular schedule of masses:

8:00, 9:30 and 11:30.

Renewal of Baptismal Vows and Blessing with the Easter Water at all masses.

April 28 (Saturday) Confirmation at 12 noon in the Cathedral

 Conduct Room Procedures
 Conduct Room will be held on Monday mornings @7:00 - 8:00 AM starting Monday, March 26,2012.  All students who receive a Conduct Room must report to the 7th grade classroom by 7 AM.  Please enter through the door closest to the 7th grade classroom.

Scantron Testing
 
Scantron testing for grade 3, 5, and 7 will begin on Monday, March 26.  Please make sure that our students get to bed early and eat a nourishing breakfast, especially during testing. 
 
BoxTops and Campbells Labels
          from Mrs. Eisinger


Third grade took the top spot for the third quarter, winning the Jeans Day! Gavin H. helped his class win by bringing in 459 Campbell's points and 858 Box Tops points. His totals won him both the Box Tops and Campbell's individual prizes!
