St Pius X Newsletter

Yesterday was Ash Wednesday and as it has always been a tradition here at St. Pius x School, all our students and guests received ashes significant to the start of the lenten season.  This year, in addition to the distribution of ashes, Father Whalen, our pastor, covered the baptismal font with ribbon to signify the closing of the font until Lent is over.

During the season of Lent, students will continue to attend our weekly masses that are planned by the various grade levels in the school.  Also, during this holy season of our church, the entire student body will also attend the Stations of the Cross every Friday. Once again, the students will be involved with this tradition and actively participate with the parts of the service.  We invite all parishioners, family and friends of St. Pius to come and share this time of meditation with us.  Friday afternoon service will be at 2:15 PM and the evening service will begin at 7:00 PM.
I'm Going to the Auction!  Are YOU?

Yes, that's right!  I will be at the auction thanks to one of our many donors to this year's 15th Annual Benefit Auction Dinner.  I have looked over the many, many gifts, prizes and donations and I can promise you that you will not be disappointed.  There is truly something there for everyone. Tickets are available in the school office so don't get left out.

This year, there is also a "Pick Your Prize" Raffle.  The top prize is $1500 and if you are the lucky winner, you have the choice of taking the cash OR receiving a $1500 credit to your tuition for next year.  There are additional prizes of $750 and $500 the second and third place winners will receive with the same option - cash or tuition credit.Tickets are $20 each and they are going fast.  Send your cash or check in tomorrow so that you will have a chance to "pick your prize'.  Send your request to the attention of the school office.

"Stockers" in First Place - Toledo Blade Student Stock market Challenge
To quote the Toledo Blade, "St. Pius X's 6th grade boys portfolio leads in 2nd week."  Kudos to the future business men of our world.  We are all so proud of them and their choices of stocks for this contest.  The boys team 'Stocker' have a present portfolio of $44,480.59.  Each team began the contest last week with $40,000.  It was then up to the team to pick four stocks.  Good luck to the boys and also to the girls team who is also in the running.

The famous Ohioans of the past visited St. Pius X School yesterday.  Many of the famous historians resembled our 4th grade students who worked very hard trying to keep their identity a secret.  The Wax Museum is a traditional project of Mrs. Roberson and her fourth grade social studies class.
