 SPX 4th Grade Girl Scouts

The fourth grade Girl Scout troop had a special visitor for their Girl Scout meeting this week. Michelle Rowe, a local nurse and health educator, explained the new My Plate guidelines and portion sizes. Together the troop made parfaits with yogurt, fruits, and granola. The theme of the meeting was to teach the troop about healthy food choices, to show how much they should eat of the foods that they choose, and to get started on earning their Simple Meals badge. The girls, the troop leaders and several parents were able to ask Michelle questions about various topics, and learned a lot. Michelle ended the meeting by challenging the troop to eat five servings of fruits and vegetables every day. Everyone should try to do the same challenge.

 

 


  

PA News...

 

The Parents Association is looking for a few willing chairpersons to help with upcoming events .Each event needs someone to head the event to make sure it has the proper needs-food, help, notifications in the newsletter. It's a great way to get involved and share with the kids and the St. Pius community.  It also counts for services hours if you are in need.We need help to make these events happen...Please consider:

  • Easter Egg Hunt - April 7th
  • Donuts for Dads - May 25th
  • Used Uniform Sale - Twice a Year
Photos Needed...

The Parents Association is looking for photos of any Parent Associated events...Special Friends Day, Donuts for Dads, Halloween Party, Muffins for Moms, Easter Egg Hunt.

Please send photos to into school care of Lucy Oglesbee in 3rd grade. We would like to use these photos to share at our upcoming Open House, March 4th. Please submit photos by February 25th. Thanks for sharing and helping promote our wonderful St. Pius Events!

Last week was a GREAT week for Campbell's. A total of 1834 points were sent in! I have another 511 points to go this week and $35.90 to go to Box Tops. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Now: FACTS Financial aid information: available in the school office-you must request.

  • (not to be confused with the FACTS Tuition Payment Agreement which comes to you April 19, 2012)

March 2: Registration form & registration fee due to hold your spot for 2012-2013.

  • Families with a past due balance are at risk of losing their spot-contact Amy immediately, please!

March 4: School Open House (if we do not have your accepted registration, with reg. fee, your spot may be given away)

March 9, 2012: 4th qtr from 2010-11, 1st, 2nd, & 3rd from 2011-12 qtr service hours due.

March 30, 2012: Deadline to apply for financial aid through FACTS.

  • Return you completed worksheet to the school office.
  • Mail your FACTS Financial Aid Tax information directly to FACTS by 3/30/12.
  • You will be notified by April 19 of any aid available to you.
  • This is NOT the FACTS tuition payment registration; this is for financial aid only.

 SPX "Stocker" Team Off to a Great Start

Every year our St. Pius X sixth graders put their heads together, come up with a name for their team, pick their favorite stocks and enter the Toledo Blade's Stock Contest. 
The teams choose their favorite '4' stocks worth at least $5 a share for their portfolio.  Each team then begins the contest with a hypothetical $40,000 worth of stocks in their portfolios.  At the end of the 12-week contest, the team with the most money in their portfolio is the winner. 

After 1 week, the 6th grade "Stocker" team is in 3rd place out of 153 teams with a portfolio worth $41,881.74.  Check here weekly to watch their progress.  Go St. Pius!
 
Puma-Matata...9 Days and Counting
It is hard to believe, but in just 9 short days we will all be able to experience our 15th Annual St. Pius X Dinner auction.  We promise you an evening of fun, fellowship, and   food -  vacation trip, TV, Kindle Fire, gift cards, and more.  Our raffle this year is a Pick Your Prize raffle - you may pick cash or tuition voucher.  Tickets are $20.00 each and first prize is $1500, second prize, $750, and third prize $500. Only a limited number of raffle tickets are available so get your before they are all sold.  Raffle tickets and dinner tickets are available in the school office.  Dinner tickets are $40 each/$75 couple.

Blessed Sacrament will be hosting a special PANCAKE

BREAKFAST on Sunday, February 26 in the KellyRoom to support one of our families fighting a battle with cancer, Lori & Tom Weiher.

 

We are serving breakfast between 8 am & 1 pm.

If you are unable to attend and would like to send

a donation for the family: please make it payable to Blessed

Sacrament and mark it clearly for the benefit of the Weiher family.  

It would be wonderful to see a lot of PINK on 2/26 to honor Lori in her breast cancer/bone cancer fight.
