Dear St. Pius X Families,

On Saturday, February 25, St. Pius X School will be celebrating our 15th Annual Benefit Auction.  "Puma-Matata" - the name of this year's event. We can guarantee to all that this  is going to be a fun-filled exciting night for all.  One of the main outcomes of this benefit auction is the money that is raised to help keep our St. Pius X education affordable for all our families.  In order for our auction to be a success, we need the help and support of all our families and friends.  Committee members are working very hard putting together the meal, the prizes, the fun and ambiance so that everyone can come together and make this auction the best ever.

Tickets, $40 per person/$75 per couple, for the auction will go on sale this coming Monday, January 30. Invite your family and friends and reserve your table.  We would love for everyone to come and experience Puma-Matata.

Part of the excitement of the evening is having the opportunity to bid on both silent and live items as well as purchase raffle tickets and try to your luck on a variety of interesting and unique gift items.  This year we have been working very hard to make Puma-Matata affordable for all.  As the date gets closer, we are still in need of items for all of our raffles and auctions. Our baskets are again going to be a feature item.  We are always looking for unique and interesting new basket ideas or items.   If you can or know someone that can donate to this year's auction, please fill out the form at the end of this newsletter or give the office a call.

The auction committee is also in need of workers for that evening and also with set-up and take-down.  If you can help us out with any of these areas, please call the office or send a note into school.

A HUGE Thank YOU to the following families who have already donated time, talent or treasure :

Kleinfelter family                  Hauser family
McGowan family                  Matthews family
Koppinger family                 Meyers family
Coventry family

Good Morning St. Pius!

Students should be arriving to school every morning by the 8:00 AM bell.  Students will then have time to unpack and get ready for the 8:15 AM bell.  The 8:15 bell signals the beginning of our day.  We are having far too many tardy students and far too many students running in the doors at 8:14 and racing down the halls to beat the bell.  Please help us help our students prepare themselves for the rest of their lives.  Promptness is necessary in school, the work place, social events and sporting obligations.

Morning Entrance and Drop Off for All

Special Note:  Beginning tomorrow, Friday, January 27, the side door between the school and the rectory will remain locked at all times for safety reasons.  All students need to enter the school through the Family Life Center doors in the mornings.  If parents need to come into the building in the morning before school, please use the narthex doors by the office.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Teen Institute Presentation
          by Briana Palmer, Grade 8

This past Monday, a collaboration of St. Ursula Academy girls and St. Francis deSales boys conducted an educational and informative program for our 7th and 8th grade students.  Within the hour, students were separated into several groups where their most troubling questions on high school life were addressed.  Toward the end of the program, the girls and boys were divided and the SUA and SFS leaders answered questions according to gender. Overall, the experience was very beneficial.  Nothing is more reassuring than getting hands on advice from those who have been there.  A big thanks goes out to SUA and SFS - their advice is greatly appreciated.

                     Congratulations to EMA FISH!

     Ema Fish's 1st Place Work

Today we received a letter stating that our very own eighth grader, Ema Fish was selected as the 1st place winner for the 8th grade art competition for the 2012 Dr. martin Luther King, Jr. Art, Writing & Multimedia Contest sponsored by the Ohio Civil Rights Commission.  More than 1500 contest entries were submitted and only two winners were selected from each grade level.

Ema will receive her award on Thursday, February 23, 2012, at the Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus, Ohio.

Thank you, Ema!  We are proud of your effort and your gift of writing and art!
