15th Annual Auction Update

Invitations will be going out soon for our 15th Annual St. Pius X Benefit Auction.  Save the Date emails went out last week. Mark your calendars now for Saturday, February 25 - get a babysitter - and plan to spend time with friends as we take you to the savannahs, enjoy exotic foods and wander through  a variety themed based items for you to bid on and hopefully take home with you.  Auction items are coming in but we still need the help and support of all of our St. Pius families.  If you know someone who would be willing to donate to our auction, pick up a form from the office or turn their name into the office and we will contact them.

Auction committtee members have done their homework and they have learned their ABC's.  If you feel you can donate one of the items on our list, we would LOVE it.

Top three classes as of January 18:
2nd grade - 258 points
3rd grade - 138 points
8th grade - 132 points
I placed orders for several teachers from the Campbell's catalog this week.  Mrs. Lohman will be getting Time Bingo for her 2nd graders.  Mrs.Hurley will receive a pack of sentence strips for the kindergarten class.  Mrs. Puppo will soon be using 5 new paint/glue pumps for art class and there will be 6 new 8' playground balls for all of the students at recess.  There are a few more items that will be ordered as soon as we have our points built back up.  I don't think that will take very long because you are all doing such a fantastic job sending in Campbell's and Box Tops!

 Just a reminder...

Lunch orders are now available on line.  Orders may be placed between today, January 19 and Janaury 26.  The deadline for all orders is Thursday, January 26!

Also, we are still in need of tissues and hand wipes for our classrooms.  If you have a spare box or two, please send it in with your child to their teacher!  We ALL appreciate your generosity!
Did YOU Know?
...St. Pius X students have the opportunity to use an iPad in all of our classrooms

...Teachers and students all benefit from the use of a computerized grade card and parent alert programs.

...All St. Pius X students participate in Phys Ed. classes twice a week.

Outside Recess

Depending on the weather, the majority of the time our students will be going outside for recess.  Please remember to remind your children about the importance of hats, coats and gloves.  Also, boots and sweatpants are always allowed when the students go out to get some fresh air and move around a little as they prepare for the second half of their day.

SPX Puma  Events
St. Pius X School prides itself in having the priveledge of developing the whole child - academically, socially, spiritually and physically.  This past weekend, 13 of our 7th and 8th graders competed in the Power of the Pen state-wide writing competition.  We are anxiously waiting to hear how many will have the opportunity to move on to the regional competition in March.

Over the course of a weekend, many of our students also have the honor of serving at our weekly Sunday masses.  Being able to serve at Mass and assist in our weekly obligation is offered to all of our 4th through 8th graders.

St. Pius X School has always had a very strong and successful sports program that involves a majority of our students in all areas of competition.  Practices, games and dedication to athletics take much time and effort and it is our hope that these life skills help prepare all our students for their future.
