St. Pius X School Rolls Out the Carpet...
This past September, St. Pius X students wrote letters, drew pictures and had a Jeans Day to honor our fire fighters at Station 25 on Central Avenue. Monies rasied through our Jeans Day went to the purchase of the carpet runner that our fire fighters needed. This past Wednesday, Captain Mike Dandar, a parishioner of St. Pius X Church and his crew brought the carpet to school to share their excitement with the gift and also answer some of the many questions our students asked in their letters. Fire fighters Jeff, Jen, Trinidad, and Captain Dandar shared personal experiences as the 7th and 8th graders, Father Whalen and Mrs. Richardson thanked them for their devoted service and caring. The carpet runner that St. Pius X School gave to Station 25 will be displayed at the entrance to the church today through Sunday.

St. Pius X Students Share...
Club 55
by Grace Foor
The fourth grade class sang for Club 55. I had a lot of fun. I think we did a really good job. I was really nervous. We sang an old Czechoslovakian traditional song. I was the king and I had to sing a solo. When I looked up I saw a bunch of kind faces smiling at me. My favorite part was when I walked arm in arm with Paige. The fifth grade sang Silent Night in German. It was really hard to understand. A few people sang solos and Suzie played the piano. I hope we can do it again next year.
The 4th and 5th grade classes sang at the recent quarterly meeting of the St. Pius X Church Club 55. Suzie Kohli, Lena Gochenhour, and Briana Palmer also shared their individual talents with the guests.

The Loop Scoop
from Mrs. Hurley
Here at St. Pius, the dismissal pick up line has become known as the "loop". The main idea of the Loop is to get all St. Pius X car riders into their cars as safely and as efficiently as possible. To do this, the students are asked to follow these procedures:
* Walk out to your designated class waiting area. (The students are asked to do this to keep the younger children safe and to help those in charge locate the students more easily.
*Watch for your car and listen for your name.
*Stay inside the cones while walking to your car.
*ENTER YOUR CAR FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE.
While most students follow these procedures, we have some students who are running, playing, and not paying attention. The teachers in charge should not have to call your child's name or tap them on the shoulder. This causes a large back up in the dismissal procedures. Having your family name card posted where it can be seen in the window, discussing any changes in pick up and reviewing Loop procedures with your child/ren will help the process go faster. We are here to keep your child safe and dismiss as quickly as possible. We appreciate your cooperation in this process.
Also, all students need to be picked up in the Loop. No student should be picked up behind the school or on the side streets around the school for the safety of all students. |
| Santa Shop Thank YOU!
A HUGE thank you to all of the volunteers who helped with making the 2011 Santa Shop such a success. The children had fun shopping at all of the 'shops'. Many of the vendors commented that the St. Pius X students were very polite and that they would like to be invited back for the 2012 Santa Shop. One of the vendors left a gift to be raffled off to one of the volunteers. the volunteer whose name was drawn from the hat was Marianne Tylicki! Volunteers, again, thank you for your time and talent. It was greatly appreciated! |
SPORTS REMINDER...
Please remember: If you do not go to school because your are sick, you are not to go to a sports practice that evening. |

I would like to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday. To keep everyone healthy, please encourage hand washing, coughing and sneezing into our sleeves, proper use and disposal of tissues, and use of hand sanitizers when soap and water are not avaialable. Remember to keep hydrated even in the winter. Water is the best fluid for our bodies! Wear hats, gloves, use chapstick and sunglasses on those bright sunny/snowy days to protest your eyes. Last but not least, enjoy your time with family and friends.
