A big 'thank you' to Mrs. Claire Puppos for sharing her artisitic talents with our school. During our fall intercession, Mrs. Puppos designed and   hand painted the mural in the office.  Please stop by and enjoy her awesome work. 

Morning Drop Off Time

Parents, please remember that our morning drop-off time is 7:30 am.  Supervision does not begin until 7:30!  Please help us keep our students safe!!!!

Conference Forms DUE
 
Every St. Pius X School family should have received their sign-up sheet for our Fall Conferences.  Please take the time to fill out the form and return it to your child's teacher by the deadline, Friday, November 4.  If you do not return the form, the office will assign you a time for your conference.  If you have any questions, pleasae call the school office. 
NO School TUESDAY, November 8
Just a friendly reminder... Tuesday is a Teacher In-Service Day for our faculty so students will have a free day on this coming Tuesday, November 8, 2011. 
Report Cards
 
Our first quarter report cards went home this past Tuesday.  Thank you to all of our families and students who practiced the Lifeskill of Patience.  We have made a few changes on each of the grade levels and we truly do appreciate your patience.  As an additional reminder, conference forms are due tomorrow.  Please send this form in so we can honor the time you have picked for your conference.  If we don't hear from you, we will assign the time for your conference. 
Lost and Found
 
Are you missing a pair of sweatpants, a gym shirt or sweat shirt?  Or, what about a lunch bag, sweater, hat or even socks?  Please consider looking into our lost and found collection.  All items will be on display  during conferences on Monday, November 21.  All unclaimed items will be donated to St. Vincent dePaul.

Extended Day/Bills and Balances
Extended day and past due balance billings are coming home today in the Brown Envelope.  Past due balances are due immediately.  If you are unable to pay your balance in full, you must contact Amy Aubrey at: aaubry@bex.net or 419-535- 7672, ext. 228 to make a formal payment plan. 
Current billings are due by 11/10/11. Thank you for your cooperation - it helps keep our office costs down.

Puma Pride Newsletter

 

Hopefully all of you have noticed the change in our newsletter format and in the manner you now receive our Puma Pride newsletter.  This past week, Puma Pride was emailed to 292 different emails.  Of the 292, 168 emails were opened and 34 of the emails on our list bounced back to us.  If you know of someone who should have received our newsletter and did not, please contact the office. 

 

If you have an article that you would like to put in our Puma Pride, please email it to :  stpiusx_newsletter@nwoca.net.  Newsletter article deadline is Wednesday by 1:00 pm.

 
Magazine Prize Day
 
Next Wednesdya, November 9, will be our prize day and LIMO Ride/TACO bar lunch for those students who have earned it.  Your child will be bringing home a permission slip that has to be signed and returned by Monday, November 7.  Please do not pack a lunch for that day if you are receiving a permission slip for the LIMO Ride/TACO Bar lunch.
Magazine prizes will be given/won at 2:00 pm that day also.
Students who have earned a "Breakfast with Mrs. Richardson" will be bringing home an invitation for this breakfast.  Look in your Brown Envelope for this invitation.
West Toledo Saints - Toy Bowl Game
Please come and support our 5th and 6th grade boys who have earned a berth in the CYO annual Toy Bowl game this Sunday, November 6, 4:30 pm, at Central Catholic High School.  Our West Toledo Saints team will be playing the 6th grade team from St. Joseph, Sylvania.

Halloween Winners
Every year our middle school students are challenged to 'dress up' as a word for Halloween.  As in the past, costumes and words were awesome.  A prize was given to the student in each grade who best displayed the use of the word as it related to their costume.  Congratualtions to Koby Weiss, Gregory Fretti, and Coryn Duran.  Mrs. Richardson, Mr. Foos and Mrs. Puppos served as judges.

 Homework Club Returns

 

Starting November 7, St. Pius will be offering Homework Club after school from 3:00 - 4:00 pm, Monday through thursday.  If your child is recommended by his/her teacher, .he/she will have the opportunity to participate and receive homework assistance, as well as additional help in specific areas suggested by his/her teacher.  Teachers (with assistance from UT and St. Francis de Sales high school students) will facilitate Homework Club:  one for grades Kindergarten through 4th grade and one for 5th grade through 8th grade.  The cost of each session will be $5.00/hour or $3.00/half hour.  Financial aid may be available.  Please let teacher know if you are interested.  Limited spots are available. 
 
Thanksgiving Feast
On Thursday, November 17, the students and staff of St. Pius X will gather in the Family Life Center for a Thanksgiving lunch.  We will be giving thanks for all the many belssings we have received this past year.  We will serve turkey and gravy, mashed potatoes, dressing and corn.  Dinner rolls and pumpkin pie will round out the dinner.  Remember on this day, you will only need to pack your child(ren) a snack and a drink for in the classroom.  Please call the school office if you have any questions.

 Brr-r-r-r-r-r-...It's Cold Outside!

 

Although "old man winter" has not officially arrived, his chill is certainly in the air!  Parents. please remember to dress your children to the weather.  Coats, hats, and gloves should be a regular wardrobe essential for th next several months.  we do not have the volunteer resources to have both indoor and outdoor recess.  ALL children, regardless of attire, will go outside as long as the tmeprature is 25 degrees or higher.  Please remember to dress them appropriately for the weather!
Basketball Update 
We are still in need of basketball coaches for grades 4, 5, and 8.  If you can help out, please notify Mrs. Crosley!
