LOOKING FOR HYACK FOOTBALL ALUMNI
This year's homecoming game is on Fri, Sept 23rd and we are hoping to see the biggest group of alumni we've ever had. If you know of any NWSS/Pearson/Massey football alumni from the 50s, 60s and 70s please encourage them to attend and pass their contact info along to Jayne at: [email protected].
Also if you are a "new era" Hyack football alumni (2003-2010), expect to get contacted by someone from your grad class, so please be sure to attend. The parachutists are back, there will be a great band in the house and it should be a great time.

HYACKS KEEP KUSHNIR BOOT
Touchdowns by Regan Eberding and Jonathan Lopez helped propel the Hyacks to a 16-13 win against South Delta on Friday night in their home opener at Mercer Stadium. The win also allowed New West to keep the Kushnir Boot which was on the line for the first time since 2008.
Lopez added an interception and was named the Prime Time Player of the Game. Jonathan He registered 6 tackles and a sack, to take home Burger Haven Linemen of the game honors. Aldrin Asuncion eclipsed the 100 yard mark for the first time as a Hyack. Jordan Chin led the Hyacks with 8 tackles and a sack.
Next up will be a game against Terry Fox on Friday, Sept 16th at 7pm at Percy Perry Stadium in Coquitlam. The Ravens were provincial finalists a year ago and are coming off a hard-fought 20-18 win over Salmon Arm this past weekend.

WANDELL STARTS AS TRUE FRESHMAN
Hyack alumnus Jamie Wandell started in his first game as a true Freshman for St Mary's University in Halifax this past Friday. The 9th ranked Huskies defeated Mt Allison 54-14. The 6'4" 290 pound Wandell was a Provincial All-star at New West last season.
"Jamie is among the top 2-3 first-year linemen I have ever coached," said SMU head coach, Steve Sumarah. "And that's saying something when you consider some of the great linemen that have come through here and have played in the CFL."
Another former Hyack, James Belgrave is also playing at St Mary's.
