Carbon Tax

With the Federal Government going against their word at the last election, what does a carbon tax mean to the average carwash owner?

Active members in Queensland have not been sitting around idle, waiting  to find out.  Recently, President of ACWA, Richard Holloway, had engaged Energy-wise to help prepare for ACWA an application to Ecobiz for an Energy Study grant.

The application was successful with ACWA receiving ten thousand dollars from the Queensland Department of the Environment to assess energy efficiency in the carwash industry, put forward ways to reduce energy use and document industy best practice.  It will be a cluster program with twenty carwash sites representing the three main types of equipment coming together to assess energy use and conservation measures with the focus to include new innovative products.

Carwashes Melbourne VIC
Exemption from Stage 2 variation restricting car washes to 70 litres

The new Minister for Water in Victoria has kept his pre-election promise to the car wash industry.  The Melbourne water authoritities and Western Water have been directed to provide exemptions to the 70 litre limit per wash imposed on us under a variation on Stage 2 of the Drought Response Plan.  This allows automatic car washes to increase water use per wash up to the normal Stage 2, 100 litre level.
