Greetings! Hope you are enjoying a good cup of coffee!
Who was Joseph? Matthew 1:19-2319 Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. 20But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. 21She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." 22All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: 23"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel"-which means, "God with us." Trivia: What prophet are they talking about in this verse do you know? You are correct, it is the prophet Isaiah 7:14
The Nativity story tells us many important things, the main of course is that a Savior is born to us. It speaks how the Lord carefully chose the parents for the Messiah. As the celebrations are ahead and it can get awkward at times, let us remember that our blood family has been handpicked by our Lord. They all have shaped our character, they have encourage us one way or another. They might not take our advise, they might continue to do things their own way, but we can continue to pray and trust in God that one day, they will understand Christmas. Because we do know the Joy of Christmas, let us pray and discern how to shine that light to the people around us, our loved ones. Be compassionate, kind, forgiving, encouraging and joyful. Don't be afraid to show your wounds. When people see our wounds they see God's work in us right through them, don't just say things are great. We are after all not perfect yet, but we are beloved children of God.
