Greetings!
Rise & Shine, may God's glory shine upon your face today! Ready for breakfast? How about the reading about the bread of Life (John 6:35)
In Acts 2:42 you will find that Luke gives us a scoop of what it was to be in the Fellowship of the believers. -"And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers."
During our festivity, our first intake was the breaking of bread followed by prayer. Why? In Luke 22, Jesus had his last meal and he shared that with his disciples, he asked them to do this in remembrance of him. That is the first time that the breaking of bread took place. The early church in Acts were following the request of continue to do this to remember the body that was broken for our sins, the Bread of Life, Jesus Christ.
Luke 22:17-20 17 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he said, "Take this, and divide it among yourselves. 18 For I tell you that from now on I will not drink of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes." 19 And he took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me." 20 And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, "This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood. Please pray for me, I am with fever and headaches and today I have to pass my final exam for my class of hermeneutics.
