As I mentioned it yesterday this email began to circulate in 2008 and it was called "Word of Encouragement". In January 2009 I renamed it to "The Word of the day" but by February 1st, 2009, I renamed it again to "The Word". Numbers 24:5 5 "How beautiful are your tents, O Jacob, your dwelling places, O Israel! Happy Monday to you! For sure we all have gone on a camping trip, sure some of us have whined for not having a shower or AC...Some of us just love to be out in the raw. But few times have I personally thought of Abraham and God's people dwelling in the dessert for 40 years. I feel God's presence on a camping trip but selfishly I honestly never thought of them, how they must have lived out in the wild in a tent for so long. When I read about it I imagine, a bit, but that is it. So I found a site that tells about traditions still followed today during Jewish holidays. Source: The Jewish Outreach InstituteSukkot, which comes on the fifth day after Yom Kippur, lasts for seven days. During that time, we remember the protection God gave to the Jewish people during the forty years they spent traveling in the desert. This year (2009), Sukkot began on the evening of October 2nd. Legend has it that our forefather Abraham sat in his tent, with the flaps of the tent folded up on all four sides, so he could welcome weary wayfarers from every direction. This lovely image of patriarchal generosity is evoked by the holiday of Sukkot.May God bless the work of your hands during the week and protect you from harm ways, in Christ name I pray, amen. Love you
Julieta
