Rise & Shine!
I hope you learn more about Paul, perhaps you already knew these things about Paul. All I am sharing was part of a paper I submitted last year during my class of Biblical Backgrounds about Paul and his journeys. I learned so much about Paul and now I revisited my paper and I see his transformation was amazing.
His name was Saul, he was very talented, he spoke 3 languages, Aramaic, Hebrew and Ancient Greek; he was a Jew born a Roman. Back in the days, it could not any get better than that. The thing is that he didn't know Christ. He was a pharisee who did not accept Christ as the Son of God, the long waited Messiah and therefore Paul persecuted the Christians. He did cruel things to the Christians and killed them without mercy according to the law of Moses.
Yet God called Saul of Tarsus and God loved him and gave him an opportunity for a new life; even a new name, Paul. The past was no more, Paul abandoned his old ways and became a new man. God gave him a real purpose in his life and used all the talents in Paul.
You and I have a story pretty much like Paul before his transformation but we can't get further because of the failures of the past, they hunt us down. We keep looking back to Egypt where God took us out, yet we wish to go back there, to the same slavery, to the same misery to the same people who oppressed us. Perhaps today the misery of the past is in a new dress and seduces us to go back, making us believe that it is all changed...Do not go back, God has removed you from that past for a reason; because He has plans for you, for a future with a new life, with new victories, new purposes and most important with His people.
Jesus spoke to many, but only 11 made it to discipleship, the others went back to their old lives, they could not let go. How about us?

16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said,
"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
Matthew 28:16-20
