Greetings!
This week we are celebrating the anniversary of the arrival of Christopher Columbus to the Americas on October 12, 1492. In North America this day is celebrated as Columbus Day; in Central America it is Dia de la Raza, In Spain it is Fiesta Nacional or Dia de la Hispanidad, in the Caribbean is it celebrated as Discovery Day and in South America as Dia de las Americas.
For the World History, the main importance of this date was the discovery of a new world and new trade opportunities. For Church History, the main importance was to spread the Gospel. The result of both interest was a blood bad and the distortion of the Gospel. In the midst of this turbulence God was still in control and still the one calling the shots. The journey of the disciples begins after the resurrection of Christ and through their ministry we see how each apostle had a unique impact in Church History. We are able to see that one person who truly follows Christ can make a big difference for God's Kingdom.
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28:16-20
How many disciples do we have under our wing today? Blessings,
Julieta Reyes Prverbs 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
