Today is a Brand New Day
Surprise the World with a Smile!Friend "As we take time to reflect on the 10th Anniversary of a day none of us will ever forget, let us come together to remember, to express our gratitude to those who demonstrated what it is to be a hero, and to pledge ourselves to live in honor of their bravery." This terrorist attack cause the world to pause and watch with horror to what Americans went through. It is not just a pain of one nation but the pain of all who watched with despair to the terror around the country. We have watched other attacks in the past but never one like this. Technology brought us closer to the fear and the terror that the victims lived for the first time in history. We heard the phone calls from the planes that were attacked; we saw the hopeless victims throwing themselves from the towers; we watched with agony not being able to help or change the results of those attacks. I am sure that each of us can remember where we were and what we were doing on that morning. We prayed together, we cried together, friends and with strangers. The nation was united. The consequence of those attacks was that many of us felt vulnerable as we lived some weeks of fear, our sense of security changed forever. Our (spiritual) life is also affected and we have some attacks that mark our lives. It could be a health problem, maybe a surgery; perhaps a divorce;perhaps the loss of a loved one; bankruptcy; war; abusive relationship;addiction of some kind;exile;incarceration;abduction, rape or kidnapping even a robbery. These events take our sense of security away, we feel that anything can happen to us. This either drives us closer to God or it could also drift us away from God. We fall in the idea that God somehow is punishing us or not loving us. But the truth is that the enemy is a terrorist and uses horrible events to make us believe that we are not protected, that we are easy targets. This blurs our sight and we hesitate to continue with the call the Lord has placed in our hearts. When we allow this to happen we no longer live as Men and Woman of courage living and sustained by God. We lose a hero, a warrior of the King of God. Don't let this happen to us. God has promised never to leave us or forsake us, but we need to believe it and own the promise. We need each other to encourage each other, pray for each other and to sharpen each other. We cannot do this alone. Encourage someone today or asked to be encouraged, but take action. King David encouraged his son Solomon, who are you going to call? 1 Chronicles 28:20 David also said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished.
May the Lord fill our hearts with COURAGE, in Jesus name, Amen.
