Peter Simon

If you have been following since last week, you will recall that we are looking closely to the character of Peter. His dialogs with Christ are very unique and they are recorded for several reasons but for now we are looking at Peter's attitude and the results of his impulsive and foolish actions.

Today is a Brand New Day

"Surprise the world with a smile"

Greetings!

Thank you my friends for all your support emails that came in, you lifted my heart and I am grateful for your prayers. Thank you also for confiding me where you are right now and shared your hardship. When we come together and we encourage each other and lift each other in prayer, God comes in and honors those prayers because they are done in love. On Wednesday the Prayerwarrior@work is coming out with the prayer requests you send in. Thank you!
Guess what, today is a Brand new day again, write it down somewhere or call a friend and let them know that today is a brand new day for you and for them!

After the Last Supper Jesus left with his disciples to the garden of Gethsemane to pray. Jesus knew the time was near and  he felt overwhelmed. Jesus selected just three disciples to go further in an more intimate setting, one of the disciples was Peter, the other disciples were not mentioned by name. So Peter is the main guy of the story since we know his name. This is the Son of God telling them that his soul was overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. They were handpicked to watch over Christ while he prayed. Peter showed loyalty, after all he was there with Christ. Imagine the Son of God feels sorrow, I don't know about you but I think perhaps I would not be able to even breath, because something serious was brewing. Instead Peter decided to take a nap. When I read this, I asked my self, am I taking a nap while Christ is asking me to watch over his sheep? If Christ comes today, will he come and find me sleeping? At this moment I am not focused, I am distracted with other things and perhaps not responding to the calling. I am as sleep. What is your truth, are you also sleeping next to me like the three disciples?

36 Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray." 37 He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38 Then he said to them, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me."39 Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."  40 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping.
