Yeah!!! Getting ready for the weekend?
I pray that God will guide us through this day and that we may open our hearts to receive his blessings. That our Lord be with us and our family and friends as we get ready to enjoy the weekend and also dedicate time to be in fellowship with our Lord.
During and after the last supper Christ taught the disciples a couple of things as he knew that time was running short. Among other things he shared with them that they would have difficult times. They still did not understood that something unthinkable was about to happen. Jesus was being persecuted by the high priests, we know that because we read the books of the New Testament but the disciples had no inside information on how Jesus' death was being plotted. The disciples were hours away from witnessing the darkes hour of the night in the garden of Gethsemane. They were about to witness that indeed the world hated Jesus and that their faith would perhaps not be that different.
Take courage if today you are in that place of hardship, perhaps your trial is one day away from today and these verses will help you understand why you are being betrayed, why you are being persecuted at work, why you are being accused of something you didn't do. Perhaps your attitude is like the Peter we have been reading about during the week but it is not because you act like Peter that you are being persecuted, it is because you are a follower of Christ. Peter was far from being perfect but Jesus loved him anyway and gave his life for him. God had grace with all of us and therefore he laid his life for all of us. It is not by deeds but by grace that we received the gift of salvation.
Join me next week as we continue to read together about the legendary disciple Peter.
In the mean time in all you do glorify and honor the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ!
The verse: The world hates the disciples
18 "If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you out of the world. That is why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: 'A servant is not greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name, for they do not know the one who sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: 'They hated me without reason.'
John 15:18-25
Have a great weekend everyone!
