Today is a Brand New Day

Surprise the world with a smile!

Wednesday July 20, 2011

Greetings!

May the Lord be glorified in all we do today!

One final thought on Matthew chapter 14, did you noticed that Jesus told Peter and the rest of the disciples that it was him and therefore they should not be afraid but to be courageous. He never asked Peter to go where he was, Peter suggested that he would go to him if it was really Jesus. Peter did not think twice and he acted on his feelings. At times we ask God for a sign and we made decisions based on what we think we need to do but we act on feelings not on God's guidance. We don't wait on God.

Here is another example where Jesus being the Son of God and who holds all truths, is foretelling the disciples about what is yet to come. Peter is not pausing to think and reflect but acts on his feelings, again! I don't doubt that he is a passionate man or his love for Christ. But surely he is not acting on wisdom. He is possibly saying, I love you Jesus more then the rest, I am better than them, they will deny you not me, my love is greater and faithful therefore what you are saying cannot be true? How many people tell us that they love us? And that they will not deny us but at the first chance that they have they let us fall face first. It is a sinister kind of false love. A love that is calculated not the kind of real Love in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 .Peter's intentions might be good but Peter's acts show the opposite.

Clearly we must evaluate every word that comes out of our mouth and measure our acts instead of acting and saying things in the spur of the moment. Let every deed honor God, let every word and promise we make be honored and lets pray that we love one another with honesty. That we speak in truth. All this for the glory and honor of our Lord, Jesus Christ.

The verse:

31 Then Jesus told them, "This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written:'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.'32 But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee." 33 Peter replied, "Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will."

34 "I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times." 35 But Peter declared, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you." And all the other disciples said the same. Matthew 26:31-35
