Hi Julieta,
We have recently returned from our trip to Denmark where we, much against what we had expected, did not have internet access. Back in Lima, here is an update on Nick:
First of all it was a very positive experience to visit Nick. He has been moved to another hospital where he receives physiotherapy and a lot of training to help him regain control over body movments. Nick can't see us, all he can see at this stage is light and darkness, but he perfectly well remembered us. He is clearly aware of family and friends and he recalls quite a few things in his memory, but there are also events in his life that he does not remember. It is very evident that he spends a lot of energy concentrating on things and some sentences do come harder than others. But it truly is amazing to talk to a person who has made so rapid progress. He is talking to the doctors about his situation, expressing his opinion about treatment and his stay at the hospital. His progress keeps surprising doctors and some of them openly speak about Nick as a miracle.
His body control also rushes ahead at an incredible rate. When we visited him he had started eating normal food, but had to be fed. One week later he ate by himself and he has been out, not only trying to walk, but to walk up and down staircases!
We were able to share with him that people all over the world have been praying to God for a miracle, and that many people are praying for his continued recovery.
One little incient that shows the extent of his progress occured when we took his picture. Henrik (his dad) wanted to straighten his hair over to the side to which he objected saying : "No, dad, I don't want to look like a dork." Nick is aware of and concerned about his appearence, not exactly what you would expect from someone who by all reasonable sense should have been dead.
Please keep praying for his progress AND assurance of salvation.
Yurika and Torben
