Memorial Day - Soldiers
Job 2:3-10 6-The Lord said to Satan, "Very well then, he is in your hands;but you must spare his life." 7-So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head. 8-Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes. 9-His wife said to him, "Are you still holding on to your integrity? Curse God and die!" 10-He replied, "You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?"
In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.
One that has never been a soldier does not understand what their life is like on battle ground. The things they see, the hardships they go through are so hard at times. Still when they are in a briefing, they have their eyes fixed in front of them and when their commander gives orders their answers are either "yes sir" or "no sir", I don't believe there is no maybe. Being a soldier is being brave, alert and focus at all times.
In verse 10 Job says, "Shall we accept good from God and not trouble?" there are times that everything around us seems to fall apart. You start to question why, if when you've been so faithful could He possibly allow all these horrible things to happen to you. Like a soldier keep your eyes fixed on the cross and the promises of his word. The Lord allows us to test our faith and learn to depend 100% on him. We are in a spiritual battle and ten thousand may fall on my right and ten thousand may fall on my left but i must trust that my help comes from the Lord and that he will come and rescue me from the conflict zone. So the question is: Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble? |
