Today is a Brand New Day

"Surprise the world with a smile"

Julieta Reyes

Friend

This week I have invited Karen Ramirez to share her gift of writing with us. Keep me in prayers as I take a week or two off to pray and meditate on important decisions that I need to take.
I love you.

Commit to the LORD whatever you do,

   and your plans will succeed.

Proverbs 16:3

Memorial Day

2 Timothy 2:1-7 (NIV)

1 You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. 2 And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others. 3 Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs - he wants to please his commanding officer. 5 Similarly, if anyone competes as an athlete does not receive the victor's crown unless he competes according to the rules.

This got me thinking about Memorial Day and what this day really is about. It is about brave men and women who give up their lives to become soldiers. We honor and show gratitude to those that are currently deployed, are safely home or have paid the ultimate price for our freedom. Our prayers for the heroes behind the scenes: their families who also hurt and sacrifice for our freedom

A soldier, according to the definition in dictionary.com, is a person who works diligently for a cause. The cause for us Christians is the salvation of the people that we interact with on a daily basis. From the person that ordered a Café con Leche at Starbucks and doesn't understand that a Café Latte is the same thing, to the friendly cashier at your local supermarket who understands when you need to run off and get "one more thing." God wants all people to be saved. So,when or how can I be a soldier for Christ?

Verse 4 says "No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs - he wants to please his commanding officer." My commanding officer is Jesus Christ. No one else's opinion or view matters. My steps should be strong and focused, pleasing to God. As long as I follow his word with obedience, all will be able to fight the enemy in victory. There are people who don't support our troops, still our soldiers are fighting for their freedom too. We ought to proclaim the gospel to All people, not just the good people.  I don't know about you, but I want my crown. I will strive to live by his commandments as long as I breath. Along the way, I shape and refresh to remain a good soldier and to recruit as many other as I can in order to continue the battle to spread the freedom & salvation we have in Christ given to all.

Finally, I would like to say a generous thank you to those who protect and serve and their families. Because of your courage and dedication, I am able to practice my faith and write these words without fear of prosecution. From the bottom of my heart God Bless you and keep you always. Amen.

 Julieta asked me

to fill in for her this   week. I have to

  admit that I was

not only flattered but really excited.

It means a lot to me to be entrusted with this great honor. I also have to recognize that it was an answered prayer.

I have returned to my passion of writing at the same time that I returned my life to Christ. These were the two front runners in my life for a long time. I can't remember exactly how it happened, but I turned away from both.

After I decided that God was back in the drivers seat and that I knew he wanted me to do something with my writing, I was offered a job. It was a dream that I had given up on.

The opportunity seemed too good to be true. It was something that I thought I always wanted. However, not only would this make me start over in my career, but once again it would lead me away from Christ and from what I believe is my purpose in life. I walked away from him once, I can't do that again. I prayed for guidance and soon after I got an email from Julieta offering this opportunity.

About this email

Every day the sun comes up, whether we are ready or not. In a day we take many decisions and the time frame to evaluate each one is very short. It is my conviction that we always have enough choices but that it is more important to know what the consequences are of each action and decisions we make. Every day I write a journal entry on the topics that I personally struggle with. I share my challenges, trials, joy, sorrow and the lessons learned with my friends. Not one day goes by without praising my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for his wisdom and grace. My messages are to honor my Lord and be a witness of his endless love. This love is available for all of us.

Announcement board

Today I celebrate God's grace.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

All verses used in this emails are from the NIV 2010

Trust in the word of God, this is what the Lord said about his word in Isaiah 55:11 "so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."

God bless you,
