The Myth of Happiness
discovering a joy, you never thought possible
by Rich Wagner
The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
"Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever; a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom. You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy."
Hebrews 1:3;8-9

About this email
|
Every day the sun comes up, whether we are ready or not. In a day we take many decisions and the time frame to evaluate each one is very short. It is my conviction that we always have enough choices but that it is more important to know what the consequences are of each action and decisions we make. Every day I write a journal entry on the topics that I personally struggle with. I share my challenges, trials, joy, sorrow and the lessons learned with my friends. Not one day goes by without praising my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for his wisdom and grace. My messages are to honor my Lord and be a witness of his endless love. This love is available for all of us.

Today I celebrate God's grace.
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9

What is Joy? Monday: Define what the word Joy means to you "Thirst, Seek, Settle" Tuesday: Joy...happiness...whatever, it is just a word Wednesday: A blessed invasion Thursday: Christ overjoyed
This author has conquered my heart, I enjoy reading his books. Can you imagine we cover 4 chapters in 4 days. I wish I could just send the book to you to really enjoy all the juicy stuff in every chapter. Joy has been one of those mysteries about our faith I discovered when I went through a tough time in my life. I was with deep sorrow in a dark place, crying, not being able to grasp what to pray for anymore. I knew that God would come and answer my prayer, maybe not the way I wanted but my hope lay in the fact that I knew God was going to answer. And when he did, the answer was no favorable but I felt a relief, I felt peace and I felt Joy. The situation got just worse than what it was but the reason that I was ok was because I knew I was not alone. I realized God was with me or better said, I became aware that God was at all moments with me. There was no reason to fear anything. I stopped crying, I got up and I thank God. I washed my face and I felt so much better, I ate and I went to bed with a smile. Two thoughts went through my mind, either I am experiencing some kind of divine joy or I am getting really crazy. I am sure it has happened to you too. Wagner speaks about these type of experiences and he explained that we got to experience Jesus much different than the people who got the chance to walk beside him, The author tries to describe the type of hype that was caused by Jesus. It was not because he was beautifull, or rich. Yet he was like a rock star. People were drawn to him everywhere he went to. He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him. Isaiah 53:2 Wagner:"It is almost as if God went out of his way to make sure that people were not distracted by "Jesus the man", so that he could wow the world with his divine joy. Perhaps the reason creation so eagerly waits is because of the glorious joy it witnessed during Christ coming the first time around. Can we radiate joy like Christ?".(pg68)

Trust in the word of God, this is what the Lord said about his word in Isaiah 55:11 "so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
God bless you,
