What is Joy? Monday: Define what the word Joy means to you "Thirst, Seek, Settle" Tuesday: Joy...happiness...whatever, it is just a word Wednesday: A blessed invasion
Wagner explains that the God revealed in the pages of the Bible is a God of joy. That from scriptures it seems that God has a desire to share his delight with the people he created. The author quotes Charles Spurgeon who adds, "Man was not originally made to mourn; he was made to rejoice". Jesus Christ emphasizes this truth in John 15. After calling his followers to obedience and remaining steadfast, he concludes,"I have told you this so that my joy be in you and that your joy may be complete". Joy emerges from scripture as one of the primary ways in which God chooses to reveal himself, to express his amazing love to humankind(pg49). Wagner highlights the following in this chapter:"When the Holy Spirit came to dwell in the hearts of believers, the joy became a fruit of the Spirit and a lasting gift that comes from the presence of God in us". So if i understand this right, I could feel joy every day all the time if I am aware of being in the presence of God. I love this!
