Lessons from LeAnn
Recent studies prove that people who spend more time outdoors are more positive and even healthier.
Exercising outdoors in natural environments produced greater feelings of enjoyment, revitalization, increased energy and positive engagement, along with decreased tension, confusion, anger and depression. (Peninsula College of Medicine and Dentistry) Because it is so enjoyable, people who walk outdoors exercised longer than those on indoor treadmills.
Besides, sunshine (on sunny or cloudy days) is good for your body. It is the best source of vitamin D, which is proven to fight inflammation, osteoporosis, cancer, depression and heart attacks. Sunlight improves digestion, metabolism, and your immune system, increasing white blood cells in your blood and red ones too, which increase oxygen.
Being outdoors is also good for your mind. Light is a natural mood enhancer; sunshine increases the production of endorphins and serotonin, which perks us up and keeps us in a good mood. Even cloudy days in nature nurture our bodies, minds and spirits.
So take a walk, sit in the sunshine, and smell the roses (or burning autumn leaves.) Go outdoors and see the sunny side of life (literally!).
