WSC Header
Greetings!
For any new volunteers joining the World Sport Chicago volunteer team during the month of March, we would like to share our welcome.

Typically you would find a brief update from our Executive Director Mr. Scott Myers in this space, highlighting new and upcoming World Sport Chicago announcements. However this month, we wanted to keep the newsletter brief in an effort to highlight some great new volunteer opportunities that were recently posted on MyVolunteerPage.com. Please take a look and sign-up if you are able to join us.

Also, our volunteer management team wanted to encourage you to stay on the look out once a week, if possible, as new opportunities will be posted throughout the months of April and May. The staff here at World Sport Chicago are ramping up for another exciting summer of sport. You can also follow us on Facebook or Twitter to stay up-to-date as new events and opportunities are posted.

Thanks so much for your continued support and we hope to see you out soon!

Sincerely,

WSC Volunteer Management Team

2011 USA College Fencing Club National Championships

4/9/11 through 4/11/11

Hosted by the University of Chicago Fencing Club, the USA College Fencing Club National Championships is a two day event consisting of both team and individual events in both genders and all three fencing disciplines: Saber, Epee and Foil. Over 700 fencers from 43 different colleges and universities will be competing during these competitions. The teams represented are not varsity athletes (i.e. they are not supported financially by their school's Athletic Department nor are they competing under the auspices of the NCAA) and, as such, the tend to be paying most, if not all, of their own way to travel and compete at this event as part of their love and commitment to the sport.

FSF Event Logo

The Family Sports Festival is one-day festival that provides a free day of fun and fitness for Chicago children and adults alike - creating not only lasting memories but providing the knowledge, resources and inspiration needed to build healthy lifestyles and ongoing sports involvement. Last year's event included participation from the Chicago Bears, Chicago Bulls, Chicago Cubs, Chicago Fire, Chicago Sky and Chicago White Sox. This year we are working on involvement from all of the above professional teams as well as more than 100 organizations that will help provide activities for the festival and information about year-round programs and resources. But it's going to take a lot of help to bring this event together.
