Ninth Sunday after Pentecost
July 2012

This week begins five Sundays with a focus on Christ as the Bread of life. We need food to live, and Christians have each week served out the word and the sacrament as the food that Christ continues to distribute to those of us who are hungry. Christians need not wonder whether the miracle of the feeding occurred back then: it occurs each week.

Prayer List

Start a practice of praying for the Chapel community this week -- around the table before a meal, before bedtime, in the morning as you prepare to depart for a busy day.

Use this list and remember those in need. We invite your prayers:

For Pastor Jeff and the delegation visiting Palestine this week

For all affected by the shootings in Aurora, especially the loved ones of those who were killed

or all who are recovering: Jonathan Partsch (healing of broken bones in his leg and wrist), Margaret (healing following hip surgery), Gregorio and the other victims of the shooting in Oakland

For those who have cancer: Arlene, Betty, Miriam Brustuen, Scot, David, Brian, Ray Stumpf and Charlie Witmer, and for those who care for them

For healing for Martha, and David

For those who are traveling and vacationing that they may be safe and enjoy their adventures

No to Dirty Tar Sands

The Keystone XL Pipeline is back in the news, and not for a good reason. The State Department has opened a brief public comment period through July 30, 2012, to determine what will be included in its environmental review.

As people of faith called to protect Creation, we must encourage our nation to turn away from toxic fossil fuels and develop cleaner, safer sources of energy.
