Easter Sunday
April 2012

Christ is risen!

What does it mean to be Christian? Christians are those who share their faith in the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ to transform themselves and the world. Each Sunday we gather in praise of the resurrection, but Easter is our annual blow-out celebration. This year we hear the gospel from Mark, and we sing, and we sing, and we sing.

Celebrate with us this Sunday at 11am.   Bring little bells with you to ring!

For the families of those killed this week at Oikos College in Oakland

For Maura, who broke her leg

For Troy, who is in jail

For Don, David, baby Annabelle, Joyce, Duane as they deal with illness and recovery

For spouses, marriages, and partnerships; especially in the difficult times

For the members of the Council who are leading different projects; for Sam (Audio/Visual), for Danielle (Disaster Prep), for Bob (Sustainable Task Force)

For our confirmands, Lee and Matt

For new members of the Chapel this Easter

For Chapel children and their families

For our DREAMERS, Nico, Jonatan, Raymi, Lucas, Jose, and Alex who are now walking through Nevada

For all who are looking for work

For all who are in transition or discernment

For those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries

Ashes to Fire

From the ashes of Wednesday (February 22, 2012) to the fire of Pentecost (May 27, 2012), we observe a hundred day journey together in faith.

These are the liturgical seasons of Lent, Holy Week, and Easter.

During the seven-week season of Easter, we have written a pattern of simple prayer for you to use at home with your family each week, around your evening meal or at the end of the day.

Click here for a this Easter season devotional guide.

Transfer of Assets

Our next council meeting is coming up on April 17th, 7 pm, here at the Chapel. Part of the agenda is a discussion of a resolution from St. Paulus Lutheran Church of San Francisco for the synod assembly.

The resolution is about transferring assets out of the big banks to smaller, community based institutions.  (click here to access a copy of the resolution)  The Council will be considering whether to endorse this resolution.  Read it, and plan on attending the Council meeting if you would like to offer your input!

YES! Magazine

YES! Magazine can help you to change your life.  It offers powerful ideas and practical action steps to "support you in building a just and sustainable world!"  Pr. Jeff subscribes as does Louise Fortmann.  We're hoping that you might consider subscribing as well!

The most recent issue addresses the immense power corporations wield over our lives and the steps we can take to fight back.  In the spring issue we find strategies for putting the people back in charge!

Copies of "YES!  Magazine" will be handed out Sunday after our liturgy of the resurrection.  Come and get one!

Spring Cleaning

It is spring cleaning time at the Chapel! Our Green Team sorted through over 50 mostly toxic cleaning agent and reduced them to a sustainable eco-friendly handful.

Just in time for Easter we release our toxic cleaning burden and rejoice in breathing fresher, "greener" air at the Chapel!

Pictures of Vivienne's Baptism

We have posted more pictures of Vivienne's baptism on our Facebook page.

We were able to capture a particularly cute moment when one of our youngest guests "scored" a strawberry off of the cake before it was cut.

 Take a look!

One Hour A Day

As the Dream Walkers, Nico, Jonatan, Raymi, Lucas, and Alex are walking across Nevada, they are experiencing a lot of time for reflection.

As we celebrate holy week, we are reminded of Christ's suffering, of the struggles of our sisters and brothers, as well as the triumph and joy of love. Take a look at this beautiful poem written by the Dreamers, One Hour A Day.
