Passion Sunday
April 2012

Oftentimes, to grasp the fullness of something significant, we have to look at both sides. This Sunday celebrates these two sides: we begin by praising Christ with "Hosanna," and we go on to shout "Crucify him!"

Come join us on Palm & Passion Sunday as we fit both truths into one service.

Please sign-up here to prepare a story for the Easter Vigil next Saturday!

Prayer List

Think about starting a "practice of praying" for the Chapel this week -- around the table before a meal, before bedtime, in the morning as you prepare to depart for a busy day. Use this list and remember those in need. We invite your prayers for:

For Don, David, baby Annabelle, Joyce, Duane as they deal with illness and recovery

For our celebration this coming week as we remember the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ

For the officers of the Council, Nancy, Robyn, Sam, Luis, and Margaret

For our confirmands, Lee and Matt

For Chapel children and their families

For Nico, Jonatan, Raymi, Lucas, and Alex who have arrived in Nevada

For all who are looking for work

For all who are in transition or discernment

For those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries

At the Great Easter Vigil, we celebrate the way in which God's love & justice breaks into the world in new and surprising ways -- through word and promise, action and activism, resistance and revolution!

We still have un-assigned stories. Sign-up today and choose an exciting story to prepare for the Easter Vigil next Saturday.

Standing Ovation for Dreamers

In their first week our friends who walk in support of the Campaign for the Ameircan Dream trudged mile after mile through heavy rains and finally arrived at the State Capitol where they received a  standing ovation from legislators.

Sadly Jose had to leave the walkers in order to attend his Deportation Court Date. Please pray for him, his family, and community as he defends himself and his right to stay in his home country.

Take a look at their blog which is full of adventures and deep

reflections, as well as lighthearted and funny encounters with mud puddles, blisters, and piglets.

You can connect with them on Twitter and Facebook. We are also tracking their progress the "old school", with a non-digital paper map, sticky notes, and push pins on the big pin board downstairs. Take a look next time you are at the Chapel!

Rev. Ben McKelahan Featured

ben

Our former teaching parish student Ben McKelahan has recently been featured in the Greenpoint Star for his work as a Reverend in Brooklyn, New York. Ben is employing artistic expression and creation "that allows people to share something of themselves."

"As a Lutheran pastor, my job is to communicate to people that God loves them unconditionally," Ben says. "One of the best ways I know to do that is to let people express themselves, to share their own creativity and for me to honor that creativity, honor that story. To me that is worship."

Read more about Ben's work on the Greenpoint Star website!
