Prayer List
During the week, we invite your prayers this week for those in need in our community and around the world, including:
For our parish as we lean forward gracefully into a new future
For Duane as he recovers from surgery
For Bishop Mark Holmerud as he prepares for surgery on Thursday
For Bishop Marc Andrus as he celebrates the 10th anniversary of his ordination as Bishop of California
For the DREAMERS as they prepare to walk to Washington DC
For the undocumented workers at Pacific Steel who lost their jobs this winter, and especially for Jesus Navarro who faces death because UCSF is denying him a kidney transplant because of his undocumented status
For all who are in transition or discernment
For all who are imprisioned
For all who seek work that doors might be opened
For all who mourn, especially April and her family, Miriam and Bob and their family, Brian and Marsha and their family
For those celebrating birthdays and anniversaries
Think about starting a new habit of prayer with your family this week -- around the table before a meal, before bedtime, in the morning as you prepare to depart for a busy day.

Evolution Sunday Next Sunday is Evolution Sunday
Evolution Weekend is an opportunity for liturgical celebration, discussion, and reflection on the relationship between religion and science. Charles Darwin was born on 12 February 1809 and his birthday offers an opportunity to explore his theory of evolution in connection to our faith. |

Breaking the Barriers Palestine has been in the news often in the past months. Most of us know some aspects of the situation, but have you ever wondered about getting more in-depth information? The Sabeel Conference to be held at SunnyvalePresbyterian Church inMarch 2012 will be a great resource to help navigate through this important issue of our time.
The theme of the two-day conference is Breaking the Barriers to a Just Peace in Israel/Palestine. It will feature well-known speakers from Palestine, Jerusalem, and the United States on the latest thinking and developments on the situation in the Middle East. Topics of discussion will range from day-to-day ordinary life, the economy, and high tech businesses to the philosophical ideological differences, theological interpretations, and influence of the media. |
A note from Pastor Sanna
My Sincerest Apology
Last Sunday in my sermon I used a phrase that was jarring to some and extremely insensitive at best. I apologize for this thoughtless action on my part. In a community where we work hard to use words that build up and welcome, I repeatedly used words that drew a seeming connection between people who suffer from mental illness in a variety of forms and the crazy-making things in our everyday lives. This was a serious lapse in good judgment and I beg your forgiveness.
I am happy to speak individually with anyone who wishes further conversation regarding this issue.
