Greetings!

This month we will be changing our regular meeting date from Monday, May 14, to Thursday, May 24, so that the association can host a community school forum featuring Collier County Supt. Dr. Kamela Patton, principals and staff from all Golden Gate Schools.

Dr. Patton will discuss district plans to address educational needs and improve test scores in the elementary, middle and high schools serving the Golden Gate city area. Principals and school staff from Golden Gate, Golden Terrace, Mike Davis elementary schools, Golden Gate Middle School and Golden Gate High School will be in attendance.

Also attending the forum will be our own association member Stephanie Munz Campbell, founder and director of Grace Place, a non-profit neighborhood center teaching literacy, language and life skills to at-risk children and impoverished families in Golden Gate city. Stephanie will discuss partnerships that could provide additional grant monies to significantly increase the number of students served.

Bay Days Results - 5.52 Tons of garbage was the final number for Bay Days, April 14.
This year we conducted a dual cleanup effort. Participants walked the banks and utilized canoes to retrieve the trash.
The 2nd part concentrated on the land cleanup that was based at 44th Street and Golden Gate Parkway. Numerous dumpsters were available for citizens to bring any unwanted trash, yard waste and hazmat materials. We also utilized the Jail weekenders who cleaned numerous streets in Golden Gate City. Thank you to everyone who assisted with this effort!

FUN RUN The Collier County Sheriff's Office District 2 will be hosting a Safety Fair/Fun Run from 6-9 p.m., Friday, May 25, at the Golden Gate Community Center. Our association will be serving up Lemonade so please volunteer to help out with this worthy event. The 5-K Fun Run will begin at 8 p.m.

Thanks for keeping the Golden in Golden Gate!
