Based on a series of conversations between Louise and Cheryl, we can consider what they have to say about the importance of loving ourselves and ourbodiesaging consciously; bringing true porsperity and abundance to the world; manifesting positive relationships-both with family and friends in the workplace; and facing death in a dignified and peaseful way. This class will be a "discussion" class, with lots of solid, classic Metaphysics!
Marylee will be leading this class, and like all Unity classes, this offered as "Love Offering" or playfully the "karma method"! |

Minister's Letter
Dear Friends,
As spring slides into summer, we near the halfway mark for the year 2012. Wow! This is a good time to pause and take a look at the first half and plan and readjust our vision for the rest of this year. Summer is also a good time for "special projects". Our Unity summer focus is on "Deepening our Spiritual Practice".
Part of our Unity of Stockton Vision is to deepen personal spiritual understanding and practice in our lives and as an organization to provide a place and activities to enjoy and explore together in a way that invites our greater Stockton community.
We were pleased to have Gary Springfield in May with 15 people participating. We were excited to have a packed workshop with Mary Keeney exploring Yoga Nidra (an ancient form of meditation over 5000 years old) resulting in a new weekly practice class on Tuesday evenings. It will be limited to only 12/week so sign up early!
Continuing this path, this month we have Lori Wong with Qigong and Vipassana Mindfulness Meditation after our Sunday Gathering June 24 as a workshop, and in July, we will add Yoga for stretching and exercise with Merry Ann Kain.
These activities are added to our Wednesday Unity classes, Unity prayer and meditation times, and our Healthy Eating group that meets every 3 weeks.
All activities are offered as ways to develop your spiritual sides, confident that this deepening will add to your happiness in all areas in your life! You could choose to do everything, but I imagine that you will pick the things that work best for your spiritual nature.
Enjoy!
Light, Marylee |

There will be no class on Tuesday, July 3rd.

Qigong Workshop with Lori Wong
Sunday, June 24, 1p.m.
Potluck Lunch after our Sunday
Gathering and before the Workshop.
No special attire required!!
Qigong (pronounced "chi gung"), or Chinese energy exercise, is a powerful, gentle movement practice suitable for all ages and physical conditions. It relaxes and strengthens the connection between body and mind, helps us tune into the experience of flowing energy, releases stagnant energy, revitalizes our inner life-force, and touches the deepest sense of our well-being. Mindfulness meditation is a practice in which we pay attention to ordinary experiences: mental states of mind, internal talk and thoughts, physical and emotional body sensations. In doing so, we find that these experiences can be known energetically in the body and the skill that develops in not becoming reactive to our experience cultivates well-being. These two practices support and complement one another. This workshop will introduce mindfulness meditation and Qigong practices and how they can bring greater well-being in our lives.
Lori Wong has been practicing mindfulness meditation since 2003 and is a Community Dharma Leader in training through Spirit Rock Meditation Center in Woodacre, CA. Her mentor teachers in the program are Gil Fronsdal of Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City and Eugene Cash of SF Insight in San Francisco. She has been a student of tai chi and qigong since 2009 - her teacher is Neil Thomas of the Kung Fu Institute in Modesto. She is a former board member of the Insight Meditation Center in Redwood City and is currently on the board of the Sati Center for Buddhist Studies and is a founding director of the Buddhist Insight Network. She leads an Insight Meditation sitting group on Tuesday evenings at the Unity Church in Modesto and is also a volunteer in the Buddhist Pathways Prison Project, bringing mindful meditation to California state prisons in the Central Valley.

Karma of Breakfast. What is Karma?
Eastern philosophy knows it as stuff we carry around for lifetimes. In the west, here, it is simply Cause and Effect. If we know what's Causing us to have unhealthy bodies and ultimately minds and souls, then we can Effect change to help us live Healthy Happy Lives.
