FALL
With Fall come some changes. With school starting some of our staff will be around less and there will be some new faces. Diane will be a round a little more as she returns from maternity leave. Our new website should be making its debut in the next 90 days. Speaking of school... check out all the classes and workshops coming up this fall.
Reservations
As many people discovered this past month we do actually have a limit on the number of dogs we can have in the center. This number varies depending on the individual dogs in the center and our staffing for that day. We are requiring reservations for all dogs with special care requirements - single rooms, medical and private care. There are a total of 16 rooms out of the 110-140 available spots for dogs. If your plans depend on Metro Dog then make sure you reserve a spot whether it is for Daycare of Boarding. We will continue to accept clients without reservations provided that we have the space.
RATE CHANGES
For the first time since we opened our rates will be changing on September 15th. We are looking for ways to continue to provide the best care for all the individuals who come to Metro Dog. We want to be able to keep our staffing ratios high and our groups carefully chosen. We are adding different types of daycare for dogs who require their own
rooms or special handling. We will be offering special daycare packages
for single room dogs. We are also changing the rates for baths to better reflect the time and resources needed for different sized and coated dogs. Meal prep charges are going away. Park trips - We love taking dogs to the park. The costs of fuel, vehicles, insurance and of course the human who takes them all add up. We have tried to soften the blow by offering a 10 trip package at a discount.
And finally, Container charges will become a reality. We have been asking for years that clients package their food in rigid containers like tupperware or vittle vaults. Most do but for a few the bags keep coming. We cannot safely store bags in our meal prep area. If you bring more than 1 day's worth of food it must be in a rigid container labeled with your dog's name. Otherwise you will be charged a $4 re-packaging fee.
For a look at what to expect here are the new rates effective September 15th.New Rates

Labor Day Weekend and other end of summer activities
Last Spring I was attending a dog event in Central California and discovered Pismo. Pismo is a beach town that hasn't changed since 1965. It is super low key has a great dog friendly beach. I stayed at the Sea Gypsy Motel right on the beach and super dog friendly.
In the bay area Labor Day is also Burning Man. As dog lovers we ask that you do not take your dog to the Black Rock Playa.
In 2003 Burning Man became a NO DOG event. For more information read this:http://www.burningman.com/preparation/event_survival/pets.html
For great dog information in Oakland and around the east bay check out ODOG - Oakland Dog Owners Group http://www.odogparks.org/
