| Stewardship Prayer | | |
Gracious God,
So often you attempt to offer us a peaceful awareness of your presence. It is always there, but we do not slow down enough to become aware of it.
Help us to slow down and appreciate this gift, and come to a deeper understanding of the movement of your Spirit in our lives. Help us recognize those moments when you rescued us, healed us, and reconciled us.
Increase our trust in you, show us how to reach beyond ourselves to minister to others, and give us the wisdom to be better stewards and sacraments of your presence each day.
We pray this in Jesus' name.
Amen
This prayer is from the ICSC June 2011 e-Bulletin. |
 | Bulletin Bits Based on Sunday Readings | | |

These bulletin bits are from Sharon Hueckel's book Stewardship by the Bookand are reprinted here with permission. Whether your parish is preparing to launch a formal stewardship "program," nurturing an earlier stewardship effort, trying to increase awareness of the link between discipleship and stewardship, or just trying desperately to keep the parish financially afloat, dropping Stewardship by the Book into the bulletin each week is one fairly painless way to work at stewardship education. Click here for stewardship reflections for the July/August Sunday readings (Cycle A).

We recommend that every week in every parish a stewardship intention should be included in the "Prayers of the Faithful." Click here for July/August prayers. |

What Will God Ask Us?
by Fr. Michael Troha
We all get e-mails forwarded to us from family and friends from time to time. The jokes, videos, photos and sometimes inspirational messages oftentimes give us something to think about.
I once received a PowerPoint e-mail from a priest friend who is a retired Air Force chaplain, and it relates perfectly to what living the stewardship way of life is all about.
We will leave out the pictures and leave you with the words from "10 Things God Won't Ask You on That Day": Read More

For Your Bulletin: What Is Stewardship?
Copyright Archdiocese of St. Louis. Reprinted with permsission.
Part 1 of 5
As we strive to live as faithful and generous stewards, it is important that we understand all the facets of stewardship. Here are just a few aspects of stewardship. Stewardship is:
- Scripture Based - All of the teachings of stewardship come directly from the Gospels, the Old Testament and the letters of the New Testament. Stewardship is not a new fad, or environmental word. Stewardship is the way God has expected His people to live since the beginning of time.
- Dependence on God - Stewardship is recognizing that everything we have is a gift from God. We can take credit for nothing. Everything we have and everything we do is a result of some gift thjat God has placed into our hands.
- Gratitude - Stewardship is living a life of gratitude - taking the time every day to recognize the gifts that God has given and to be grateful for them.
All fifteen of the aspects of stewardship, identified by the St. Louis Archdiocesan Stewardship Education Council, can be found on the stewardship web site at www.archstl.org/stewardship. Click on "Stewardship Education" and then "Stewardship Is . . ."

Communication and Mutual Sacrifice:
Keys to a Healthy Marriage and Good Stewardship
by Rev. Michael J. Kattenring
I preach approximately 250 homilies each year. Only one of them, the one during the third weekend of stewardship renewal, is about money. All my homilies, though, deal with love.
I was married 30 years before my wife, Kacky, died and I become a priests. I learned bunches from Kacky. Love requires intimacy. Intimacy requires communication, and communication requires lots of talk. Love also requires a willingness to sacrifice, me for you. If wife and husband deeply communicate and regularly sacrifice, everything else falls into place.
When I began stewardship at Visitation, I applied Kacky's lessons. I told parishioners . . .Read More
