| Stewardship Prayer | | |
Loving God, I come to you in thanksgiving, knowing that all I am and all that I have is gift from you. In faith and love, help me to do your will.
I am listening, Lord God. Speak your words into the depth of my soul, that I may hear you clearly.
I offer to you this day all the facets of my life, whether it be at home, at work, or at school - to be patient, to be merciful, to be generous, to be holy.
Give me the wisdom and insight to understand your will for me and the fervor to carry out my good intentions.
I offer my gifts of time, talent and possessions to you as a true act of faith, to reflect my love for you and my neighbor.
Help me to reach out to others as you my God have reached out to me.

 | Bulletin Bits Based on Sunday Readings | | |

These bulletin bits are from Sharon Hueckel's book Stewardship by the Bookand are reprinted here with permission. Whether your parish is preparing to launch a formal stewardship "program," nurturing an earlier stewardship effort, trying to increase awareness of the link between discipleship and stewardship, or just trying desperately to keep the parish financially afloat, dropping Stewardship by the Book into the bulletin each week is one fairly painless way to work at stewardship education. Click here for stewardship reflections for the May/June Sunday readings.

 | Prayers of the Faithful | | |
We recommend that every week in every parish a stewardship intention should be included in the "Prayers of the Faithful." Click here for May/June prayers.

I know your "buts" . . .
by Eric Halhorst, Diocese of Dodge City
In my line of work, I get to hear a lot of "buts." I would give more money, but _________, I would go to Mass, but __________, I would serve on that committee, but ________, I would lector, but __________. Sound familiar? I have heard more "buts" than I could ever have imagined. What I think is happening though, is people are justifying behaviors with excuses. Either a priest wounded someone with a decision, money is being spent contrary to how someone thinks it should be spent, an influx of new families is making another uncomfortable, a parishioner is ticked at another parishioner, we don't have a youth program, the Bishop did this or that; the list goes on and on. My question is . . . Read More

Annual Stewardship Reports
They Inspire Parishioners to Become More Involved and Invested in the Parish
As parishes and parishioners continue to struggle with limited financial resources, one of the best investments you can make is a simple and attractive annual report that tells the story of your parish in an inviting and inspiring way.
In a national 2010 study, entitled "The Heart of the Donor," the top three reasons which donors gave for maintaining their financial support of an organization were:
- The organization clearly explained its mission.
- The organization made me feel that my gift really made a difference.
- The organiztion gave me information on what my gift accomplished.
A four-page Parish Annual Stewardship Report can . . .

For Your Bulletin: Children's Stewardship
Copyright Archdiocese of St. Louis. Reprinted with permsission.
Do Your Children See You Give?
Every parent wants to raise children who share and give generously. When our children someday meet God face to face we want to know that they will hear Jesus say to them the same words the master said to those who used their talents wisely, "Well done, my good and faithful servant...Come, share your master's joy." (Matt 25:21)

St. Mark's Stewardship 10 Best Practices
by Val Allen, St. Mark's, Boise, ID
1. Our best education to the parish about Stewardship happened at monthly coffee hours over a two year period. We used Bishop Morneau's 12 Gardens of Stewardship (contact Val Allen at vallen@stmarksboise.org for a copy of the handout).
2. Our weekend Liturgies begin with a one or two sentence statement about stewardship in general or something happening in the parish as a good example of stewardship. We occasionally have a three minute personal stewardship testimony before Mass begins.
3. Our bulletins use stewardship language. Though we used to have at least a corner talking about stewardship and quoting from "Stewardship by the Book" by Sharon Huekel, we only put in a stewardship article periodically as our bulletin has been getting filled with all the good things happening both within our parish and at other parishes.
