WSSU Celebrates 120 Years

As we prepare to celebrate the 120th Anniversary of Winston-Salem State University this year, we thought it would be interesting to ask our alumni to help us tell the school's story through their life experiences whether they were at "TC," "WSS" or "WSSU". We will include some of these stories in the 2012 issues of Archway and also share some excerpts here in Ram Bits.  We're calling these stories "Life Reports" and here is an excerpt from one we received recently.

"I entered "TC" during the fall of 1956, anticipating earning a degree in Nursing. Becoming a nurse had been a life-long dream. In addition to its having a Nursing program, I  chose "TC" because the local "TC" Alumni Chapter (Leakesville, NC) awarded me a $100 scholarship upon graduation from high school.

As the only one of ten children to attend college, I was excited and determined to not only get a degree, but to make my family proud and to set an example for siblings and relatives to come."

- Clara Estelle Hampton Harris (Class of 1960)
