5 Questions for Coach Connell  Maynor
Coach Maynor

What are you most proud of this season?

I cannot just give one thing that I am most proud. I'm proud of the entire experience because we set and accomplished some phenomenal goals this year. I am proud to say that WSSU won a CIAA Championship, was named the HBCU National Champion and now holds the record for all-time wins for any HBCU college football team. I am extremely proud of the effort demonstrated by my team. The  guys never quit and fought to the end!

How did Ram supporters and fans make a difference?

Ram support is tremendous! The ways in which our fans and supporters give make a huge difference in what we are able to offer the student-athletes. The financial contributions add value to the program and position us to be successful. The fan following on the road and at home was incredible. It really does wonders for our players to see the fans come out in masses to cheer us on.

What do you attribute your success to over the last two years?
The talented players have made the difference in our program. It takes talent to move the program to the next level. We have been extremely fortunate to secure key transfers and junior college players who have proven to be the right fit for WSSU football. Additionally, we certainly have the best coaching staff in college football who is able to perfect our systems on both sides of the ball. These two pieces of the puzzle have catapulted  the Ram football program.

What is the next level for Ram football?

Without question . . . to win an NCAA Div. II National Championship. We fell 2 games short, but we will set out to realize that goal next season.

What can friends, supporters and alumni do to continue to support the program?

Continue to do what you are doing. Show up at the games and cheer on the players. Give financially to support our efforts through scholarships and football operations. Remember that everything you give goes back to support the kids. The more you give the more we are able to offer and make their experience one they will never forget.
Alumni Reflections

It can be an evaluation of what you did well, of what you did not so well, any regrets and what you learned along the way. Please forward it to us via email.

If you graduated more than fifty years ago, what advice would you share with young alums?

If you graduated less than 10 years ago, what would you want to know from your elders?
