December 2009
Issue: 2
Greetings!

First off things continue to go well this year - we have a lot of very talented students and continue to be VERY proud of their accomplishments.  With that said, I want to make sure all of you remember our showcase on December 12th - it is your first chance to see your children on the stage without the pressure of the recital and Bob Carr.  Please join us and support our students!

The SDCA Staff would like to wish all of you a happy holiday season and wonderful New Year!

IMPORTANT DATES
December 12th is our FIRST ANNUAL MID-YEAR SHOWCASE titled "Celebrate the Holidays".

* Recital Order forms are Due by December 19th, 2009.  Please turn in a form even if you don't want to participate so we know that you didn't just forget.

Tickets
Tickets were handed out in class over the last week - each dancer should have received 3 tickets - a LIMITED number of additional tickets are available from the office for $3 in advance and $5 at the door if space is available.  PLEASE PURCHASE EARLY to ensure you have a seat.

Photos and Videotapes
You can take pictures and video tape this event as long as you (1) do not use any flash and (2) can not set up large equipment such as a tripod.  In addition, we will be having a video tape made of this event - it will be a single camera shoot of the stage and should be available before the studio closes for Christmas on the 19th - cost will be $ 12 per DVD plus tax.

Recital Information
Our recital is scheduled for June 26, 2010 pending confirmation in January from the Bob Carr Performing Arts Center - this location is a proud tradition we plan to continue.

To help us with planning, it is important that you turn in a recital order for whether or not you plan to participate on or before 12/19/2009 (if you don't want to participate check the box that says "Decline to participate")...  We have decided to extend the standard pricing from 12/12 to 12/19/2009.  After that date, acceptance in to recital will be on a case by case based on availability of costumes.

SPECIAL NUMBERS
This year there will be a number of special numbers you and/or your children may be asked to participate in (e.g., Mother Daughter Dance) - participation will be optional and may require a small costume fee.  Sign ups will start within the next two months and will include an announced rehearsal schedule; please only commit to these numbers if you can attend all rehearsals and performances.

* Opening Number - All Dance Company Members WILL participate; other's can sign up to participate once posted.

* Mother Daughter Number - Mother and Daughters can sign up once posted; this will have a small costume fee and routine rehearsals starting after the first of the year.

* Ms Cathy Tribute - This number will be by invitation only; if you are interested please let Mr Ron know via email at ron@showtimedance.com by the first of the year.

* Finale - The finale this year will start with a choreographed dance followed by the traditional bows; We will ask specific Dance Company members to participate in this dance - if you are interested please let Mr Ron know.

Tremaine Conventions

The staff of SDCA wanted to say congratulations to Dance Company - we took 21 students to this event and they did an OUTSTANDING JOB!  We took five numbers to compete and ALL FIVE NUMBERS placed which allows them to perform these numbers at next summer's national event.  In addition, most of our students auditioned for scholarships and did a great job - in fact five students made it past the ballet component of scholarship audition which is quite a challenge at this difficult event.
Payment Issues
We here at SDCA understand that a lot of people are having a hard time in this rough economy - we share your pain.  If you are having a hard time with tuition or recital please contact the office to discuss payment options.  Please understand that we can not accomodate all situations but will try our best to ensure that your child can continue to participate in as much as practical.  Continued non-payment may result in us having to ask you to suspend your child's participation until your account can be brought current which is something we never want to do - so talk to us communication is key.
