Northshore Schools Foundation

Only 5 more days to make a 2011 tax deductible donation to the Foundation.

Greetings! ,

We are so grateful for your participation in the enhancement of learning opportunities for all of our Northshore students.

This year, thousands of you have joined together to create significant funding resources for students in classrooms district wide.

Collaboratively, we have been able to impact science, literacy, arts, programs for students with special needs, and so much more.

As 2011 draws to a close, we celebrate all we have done to support our students, and turn our attention to the year to come.  The Foundation Board of Directors will be meeting at the end of January to focus our attention on our funding priorities and how to make the biggest impact with the investment you have made by donating to the Northshore Schools Foundation.  You can share your opinion by voting for the initiative that you believe should be prioritized in 2012.

 Raising Funds for Community Schools

The Northshore Schools Foundation proudly joins the community schools movement to provide a comprehensive wrap-around educational experience that enhances learning for junior high students.

Hang-Time is a safe, supportive and welcoming environment where students are encouraged to learn and explore, participate in enrichment and fitness activities, complete homework with college mentors, and increase their connection to school, community and peers.

The Northshore YMCA, Cascadia Community College, UW Bothell and Americorps partner to build a supportive community network of neighbors, role models, and mentors for junior high students.  Their bold partnership has been funded by the Seattle Foundation and a composite of other funding sources that insure that students receive healthy snacks, opportunities for fitness, and homework help between the hours of 2:30-4:30 p.m.

In September, the Foundation provided $5,000 of a request for $25,000 to support this important afterschool program and its counterpart the Natural Leaders program.

Your end-of-the-year donation can help us insure that the Foundation can continue to support programs like Community Schools and Hang Time.

Thank you for your support.
