Greetings!

Happy 2nd Week of School!  We remember the excitement with which we approached the beginning of each new school year. The possibilities seemed endless. Today, we still experience a burst of enthusiasm with the start of the school year. Now, however, it's because of the Foundation and its donors. We know that our work is contributing to the development of well-rounded, superbly educated youth who will confidently lead us in the future. Together, we are strengthening our children and our community. Thank you for your commitment. Here's to a great year!

We are also thrilled to begin the new school year with our new Executive Director...please welcome Carmin Dalziel.

Carmin Dalziel
As a Bothell High Alumni, Carmin is excited to be back in the Northshore area, focusing her energy on raising awareness about the impact the Foundation has on the community through the funding it provides to the Northshore School District.  Carmin is returning "home" after more than 20 years in non profit arena serving such organizations as Casey Family Programs, Boys & Girls Clubs of King County, and Center for Spiritual Living.
"I take pride in the education and experience that I gained through my involvement in the Northshore School District, and it is my honor to give back to my community through service as the Executive Director of the Northshore Schools Foundation." ~ Carmin
Sincerely,

Kristin Austin and Karissa Webster, Co-Presidents
Calling for Kids
You've bought school supplies, ordered the yearbook, and cleaned out the stores at the mall. How do you complete your Back-to-School list? With a donation to the Calling for Kids Annual Campaign. Calling for Kids is a critical part of the annual Back-to-School process. Campaign dollars help ensure that the Foundation can provide its ongoing slate of programs. Our ability to fund Literacy Initiatives such as leveled readers and new textbooks, Innovative Classroom Grants, and National Board Certification Reimbursements depends on donors like you.

This year, the Calling for Kids campaign has a twist ... an element of friendly competition. The school with the highest percentage (not dollars) of participation will win the first ever Calling for Kids award. It's more important than ever to contribute. Whether you can give $5 a month or $500 a year, please give. Your contribution will make a tremendous impact on the educational resources available to our students.

Interested in volunteering? We are recruiting adult volunteers to make calls on October 14th. High School student groups, with their teachers, coaches or mentors are invited to participate October 18 - 21. For each student caller, the foundation will make a $25 per student donation to the club that each student represents.  We expect calling nights to fill up fast. Contact schoolsfoundation@nsd.org or call 425-408-7680 to find out how you can participate!

Calling for Kids is now through October 28. Contribute by October 1 and we will remove you from our call list. Click Here to learn more and make your donation today!

Light A Fire For Learning - Thank You!
Our 7th annual luncheon held last May was quite the success.  Thank you to the nearly 260 business and community members who packed the Lynnwood Convention Center on Tuesday, May 25th for the 7th Annual Light a Fire for Learning Luncheon. It was a fantastic day, and thanks to many of you, a very successful event. By close of the Luncheon, attendees and additional friends of the Foundation raised over $76,000 in support of Northshore School District students and schools.
