Why I support the Foundation
The Foundation relies on the support of our community,
families and schools. There are many unique reasons people support the Foundation...here are a few:
"The children of the Northshore School District are the future of the Northshore community. As an educator in this district I have seen some wonderful opportunities given to our students by the Northshore Schools Foundation grants. These grants support both academic and arts education. They provide the resources for materials and activities that we would otherwise be unable to fund.
As a member of the Northshore Music Department, I know that many children who struggle with academic subjects can succeed and thrive in music and the arts. The Northshore Schools Foundation grants provide critical support for these students. It allows our schools to educate both the mind and hearts of our students.
Bravo to the Northshore Schools Foundation and thank you!"

"I wanted to express my deep appreciation for the work of the Northshore Schools Foundation. Since its inception, the Foundation has sought to align its mission with that of the Northshore School District. In many ways, the Foundation as been another strong voice in our community about the important work we are doing to help our students succeed and to empower our teachers as they continue their efforts to expand their professional skills. In a time of declining resources, having a partnership with the Northshore Schools Foundation is integral to the work we do. I can't imagine doing our work without their support."

Principal, Sunrise Elementary
"As an involved parent and PTA member, I understand the need our Northshore schools have for supplemental funding, since our state can't seem to make educating our children a priority. PTAs can't make up for school programs that continue to be cut, nor can they provide supplies that the district can't afford. The Northshore Schools Foundation provides grants for schools so my girls and their classmates can have access to new books, science programs, and equipment."

"I became involved with the Northshore Schools Foundation because I wanted to help ensure the success of my children as well as all children within the Northshore School District. I was looking for a 'big picture' support network...and the Foundation is just that. Coupled with support of local school PTAs, I believe that the Foundation is able to provide essential funding that benefits all schools, teachers, and children."

National Board Certificated Teachers
The Northshore Schools Foundation is excited to announce our new National Board Ceritificated Teachers (NBCT) support program. Evidence from private and public research continues to emphasize that teaching quality matters most to student achievement. National Board Certification, a rigorous program designed to elevate the practice of teaching to the highest levels, is considered the highest level of professionalism a teacher can achieve. The Northshore Schools Foundation is proud to offer National Board Certification support to Northshore District staff. In May, the Northshore Schools Foundation donated $5,980 to help certificated staff defray tuition costs for enrolling and participating in the University of Washington Mentorship Support Program. Active participation in a support group, such as the UW's, is for many, the single most important aspect of success in obtaining certification. The 1st ever 2010 NBCT Support Group grant recipients are: Ryan Adams, Leota JH Whitney Adkins. Kenmore JH Heather Arnold, Woodin Andrea Haas, Maywood Hills Scott Henning, Inglemoor HS Erin Kievit, Woodin Carolyn Kitchens, Cottage Lake Casey Klinich, Cottage Lake Jan Morgan, Bothell HS Blake Purnell, Leota JH Lindsey Richards, Bothell HS For more information about NBCT, click here.
