Spring Has Sprung!
We have made it through another winter in West Michigan, and now it is time to get out in the sunshine! Not only will this break up the boredom of your winter exercise routine, but it will give you a healthy dose of vitamin D.
- Choose your event well ahead of time, and depending on your level of fitness at the start, progress toward your goal in moderate increments.
If this is a new activity for you, you can expect some muscle soreness initially. Remember to stretch the muscles that you are using to help minimize the soreness.
- Find a partner to do the event with you. It's always more fun to exercise with a friend, and they can help with motivation.
If you are starting a walking routine, be sure to wear comfortable, supportive walking shoes.
If purchasing a new bike, the personnel at the store can adjust the bike seat and handlebars to fit you. One size does not fit all!
- Consider training on one of the beautiful "Rails to Trails in the area.
Remember your water bottle to stay hydrated.
- Most importantly, HAVE FUN!
If you are having difficulty finding an event, a search on the internet should provide many options. Search "Fitness walks in Michigan" or "Fitness bike rides in Michigan. |
